  • Great price, great poles, definitely worth the purchase!
Color: Blue Style: Carbon Fiber Eva Grip
For the price, I don't know that you could do any better. I have buddies who spent 4 times what these cost on poles that are the same weight or even a little heavier. These poles are a little thicker than the Black Diamonds or Leki poles, but comparable in weight and feature set. The flip locks work great and are easy to adjust. The housings are a little bulky compared to more expensive poles, but at $40 I'm not complaining. The end section tends to slide out a little when the poles are fully compacted, because it tapers to the tip. It's something I've noticed, but not something that has presented any kind of issue. When the poles are extended and locked in place, I have not had any slippage. I saw the cork handled version at Costco a couple years ago and wasn't real impressed by the juctions between the cork and rubber (kind of rough and uneven), but the all rubber handles are great. They are very comfortable, and the extended grips are a great feature. I took the straps off mine as soon as I received them (I hate straps on my trekking poles, always have). I keep the mud baskets on the poles and leave the other accessories at home unless I think I'll need them for the area/weather we're heading into. You get a lot with this set: snow and mud baskets, feet for hard surfaces, knob feet, and even a clip to connect the poles together for storage (I don't use it). The snow baskets have cutouts in them so the clip will work even with those baskets on. The total offering with these poles is great and the price point is unbelievable. To get poles this light at REI or any other brand retailers, you would pay $150 or more. This is a great value for great poles. They have held up well for me so far. Like any carbon fiber poles, you can't be too rough with them. No matter how much you spend, carbon fiber is less durable than aluminum ... and you have to treat them well. They have held up well for regular trail use and as supports for tents and tarps. If you find yourself sword fighting with each other or the wildlife, these poles will not hold up. ... show more

  • Very light and feels sturdy
Color: Black Ultralight Style: Ultralight Carbon Fiber Eva Grip
I lost my previous trekking pole, and when searching for a replacement, I found out about these lightweight carbon fiber poles. I bought them with some doubts, but I've used them a few times on treks now. They're very light in my hands, feel sturdy, and seem like a decent purchase.

  • Poles are fine, straps are weak spot.
Color: Black Ultralight Style: Ultralight Carbon Fiber Eva Grip
I’ve only had the poles for a short time and haven’t used them much. The poles are great. Light weight, strong and easy to adjust, but one of the straps didn’t last long at all. I went to adjust the strap and the pin inside the handle, that the strap wraps around, let loose and I can’t even get it to reattach. The poles are still useable but it’s inconvenient to have to strictly hang on to the pole to use it. One side of the pin looks like it came out of the handle and I can’t get it to reinsert. Bare this in mind when purchasing as it all depends on how much you use the straps to hike with. Hmmm…..read some reviews and found that the pin can be pushed out the side. So worked on it and got the strap back into place and the pin reinserted. Works fine now but something to watch for. Otherwise, the poles are extremely strong, no rattling, sure-footed, exceptionally light, EVA grips may get a bit sweaty but dry out quickly. Other than the hiccup with the strap, I can’t say enough good about these poles. ... show more

  • Saved Me From Knee Replacement~*~
Color: Blue Style: Carbon Fiber Eva Grip
If anybody had ever told me that I would be extolling the virtues of trekking poles last summer I would have laughed at them, why would I review trekking poles? I love to walk, but mountain climbing, off road excursions or snow and ice activities are not my favorite things. But life has a way of making us rethink things sometimes. And, just a week before Christmas in 2015 I fell and sustained a tib/fib plateau fracture to my left knee which required two surgeries to repair and five months in a wheelchair. My surgeon's prognosis was dismal and ultimately she thought I would have to have knee replacement surgery, but she was not encouraged that it would be a particularly favorable outcome because the fracture was so severe that my knee and foot were constantly very swollen and painful, and I was still taking a boatload of pain medicine after five months. One afternoon though, a very nice couple saw me walking with a walker and recommended the Cascade Trekking Poles and adjusted the height to the appropriate level and "Voila" the pain or swelling have nearly disappeared. Having the poles at the right height places the stress on the pelvic girdle where it belongs, thus removing the pressure on the knees and reducing the pain and swelling.. If one Googles the Cascade website they will find a video that teaches one how to adjust the poles to the appropriate settings. Be certain to purchase the snap lock poles because I understand that the other option is not nearly as secure as the snap lock. I have read some reviews that claim these poles are quite fragile but I am an absolute klutz, I kid you not, always have been and always will be. I can hurt myself opening a bandaid. So no matter how careful I am with my poles, they have often hit the ground, on concrete, hard floors, and in the garden. They have been dropped, stepped on, tripped over, you name it, and yet they remain resilient and intact. I use and abuse them everyday, from sun-up to bedtime and they continue look like new. I have found many uses for these poles besides ambulation, reaching for my shoes, mopping up water or other substances spilled on the floor, moving thorny rose bushes out of the way, or sweeping cobwebs from the ceiling when I remember to look up. If a reach or a task needs doing, the poles engage more often than not. They are absolutely amazing and useful, an incredible value for an incredible product. Although I can now walk unassisted, my mind is predisposed to limping which aggravates my knee, so I will continue to use these for sometime in the future just to cement the idea of proper positioning to my brain and improve my posture. My surgeon reports that she is beginning to see quite a number of patients using these trekking poles so I suspect they will soon be common place in the patient as an ideal recovery tool for knees, backs, and other alignment complaints and requisite surgeries. So good on Cascade Trekking Poles, I am sure they did not anticipate a side road into the medical community, but it is wonderful that they are useful to all populations and not just for outdoor sports enthusiasts. As per Amazon's wonderful service the poles arrived on time, and were well packaged. I highly recommend these tools to others, whether using them for recreational activities or medical recovery. They are well made and certainly worth the price. Still laughing at myself here as I trek along~*~ ... show more

  • This makes 3 sets I have purchased over the years! They are SUPER!
Color: Green Style: Carbon Fiber Cork Grip
Set one, a gift to our son years ago. He loves them for 100 mile hikes. Set two purchased about 2 years ago for my wife who uses them for stability when walking and also loves them because they are so light. Set three just purchased for myself. I will use them as does my wife. A fine, known product, easy to adjust for each person’s needs! ... show more
