As a seasoned hiker, I'm always looking for the right backpack for every type of hike. This means that they all have to be able to keep my stuff dry and be durable so that it doesn't start to fall apart with the weight. This bag nails it. Excellent options for storing items with all the pockets. Long shoulder straps for larger people. Compact and efficient space so as not to overwhelm smaller people. The only thing I would change is to add side pockets to fit snack bars or a small 16 oz water bottle. Otherwise, this bag is perfect π

We took the backpack as a personal item and it doubled as a day pack on our trip to Italy. It was a tight fit for the iPad but it worked and the other compartments got full use.

I've been looking for a smaller bag than my current work backpack. I'm just carrying too much stuff. Yeah, this is a 17.7" bottom seam to top seam, but it is still smaller than my old 21" backpack. Both will hold my 15.6" gaming laptop, accessories, work books and files, planner, coffee cup, 40 oz BruMate cup with handle, & typical stationary stuff. This backpack has a lot more pockets and has an admin panel outside of the main compartment. The very front of the bag has a small compartment for keys, id, or quick grab small things. The zipper opening of it is 5.75" from seamed edge to edge. You can easily get your whole hand in there and encompasses the entire front of the larger gusseted pocket it is the front of. The larger pocket it sits on is 8" square. The zipper of it is on the front seam and unzips as beautifully smooth as the other. The zipper pulls on this bag are large enough to get a man's large finger in it. These may be the most accessible zipper pulls on the market. Most anyone with dexterity issues in their hands will be able to zip and unzip all but the little hidden pocket on the inside. They are just so accessible. Back to the pocket itself. The pocket is one large 64 square inch pocket that is 1.75" deep. I keep my sunglasses with case, epi-pens, and main pencil case. The next pocket back is as wide as the whole panel and is as deep from the zipper down to the bottom of the bag. It fits my A5 planner, notes book, & small reference book. The admin pocket is the front panel of the main compartment of the bag. This compartment and the main one both unzip halfway down the bag to the side accessory pockets. The admin section is made of two mesh slip pockets, a smaller zip pocket that fits a bit more than my hand, & the key leash. The rest of the pocket is the width of the bag and the full length of the bag. I keep more stationary in here, lip balm, personal care items, another A5 notebook, some first aide items in the zippered part, a few different math rulers, and a few pouches of work tools. The main compartment is one open compartment. There is no admin panel, no back slip pocket or anything else, but one hidden zippers compartment on the bottom of the left side. It is made of the same solid liner fabric and has a smaller zipper in the lining color. You will forget they are there . I keep some emergency cash in there. The rest hold my files, notebooks, and books. I don't fill it full to keep from taking too much work home with me. The outside side pockets are one elastic topped with stretchy mesh insert is big enough to hold my 20oz Stanley flip top water bottle and the other one is a zip topped one where I put some small items I reach for when I sling it off my shoulder. The laptop compartment holds my 15.6" gaming laptop in its medium thick case. The pocket is fleece lined, but doesn't have a false bottom to protect your laptop. You have to be mindful how you slam your bag down even with a false bottom. The back is mediumly padded and has a trolley strap on it that is a webbed strap. Even with all of the pockets, this bag is simple. It has reverse coil zippers apart from the main compartment that has a canvas hood protecting it and the little pocket inside of the main compartment. The zipper are easy to open with the large, accessible pulls, the straps are well padded for a heavy load, the canvas is good and solid but not inflexible, and it has a water bottle pocket. Simple backpacks tend to skip out on the water bottle pocket. I have this in black, but it comes in several colors. It is a great investment and is often on sale for an even better investment. This isn't an expensive backpack or has the features of those more expensive ones, but it is well worth it.

I got this because my job did not provide me with a bag for my laptop. I also wanted something that I could carry everything. I also used it during an overnight stay. It was perfect because now it accompanies my niece to and from high school. It's durable. It's comfortable and holds all of her stuff. The straps don't dig in. I only carried on one shoulder, but I didn't need to adjust. She and I both like the navy color.
