  • Great jacket
Color: Tarmac Size: Large
This is a really well made and designed jacket, as expected from Carhartt. The Full Swing features are fantastic, the material seems really durable, and the DWR should last awhile as I don't plan to wash it too often. It should be great for working outside in the winter with wind, snow, or a light rain. As with most Carhartt jackets, I'm somewhere between a Medium and Large size at 6' 185 lbs with relatively broad shoulders, minimal gut. I ordered both a Medium and Large because there was a sale and I wanted to get the right-sized jacket at the sale price, and Amazon's free return shipping made that easy. With the Full Swing design, I could get away with a Medium and a snugger fit. But opted for the Large so I could fit quilted bib overalls and an extra layer or two underneath no problem. The big difference between the two sizes seemed to be almost entirely in the chest/torso measurements. I believe the Large had slightly wider shoulders and longer sleeves, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were the same and the extra width in the chest was all of the difference in perception in that regard. The jacket has a cinch cord at the bottom hem, so the extra room in the large can be cinched up to prevent wind coming up. But I also thought that the extra room in the large would help the jacket breath a bit better while working outside and help me not overheat. If you're on the fence about what size to get: order a size down if you want a snugger fit, order your normal size in other brands if you want room for layers. The Full Swing design will accommodate both while maintaining full range of motion and comfort. The hood is very large, but assuming that's to fit over a hard hat. It was equally large on both the Medium and Large sizes. The zipper was a little smaller than I was accustomed to with Carhartts in the past and it was not a double, but it was also much easier to zip up and down - and seems plenty durable. ... show more

  • Pleased with jacket. Some comments
Color: Tarmac Size: Medium
I have light weight and heavy winter weight jackets. I wanted something to replace my only mid weight jacket. I am between a medium and a large. I've always found Carhartt stuff to run large. So I ordered the medium. The medium fits perfect for me. I will point out some things not mentioned in the description or reviews I read. I am cold natured so was concerned about the jacket being warm enough. I wore a mid weight sweat shirt underneath and went for a walk. Temp was mid 30's with a brisk breeze. Which was the conditions I bought the jacket for. I did not get cold. I expect the jacket would be fine to just below 30 degrees if you are not sitting. The jacket has ribbed knit cuffs inside the regular cuffs. I didn't see this mentioned but that's a huge plus for me. I'm 5'11 and wear 33 inch sleeves in a shirt. The sleeves were just slightly long. Fine for the purpose, but if you wear 32 inch sleeves in a shirt you might find the sleeves too long. That was a negative in some reviews. The shell is ripstop. But it's a very thick and dense ripstop. The material is thicker and stiffer than I expected. I didn't buy this for a work jacket. But it will no doubt take a lot of abuse. The jacket is also heavier than I expected due to the shell. Doesn't bother me but keep in mind if weight is an issue. The hood is well made and adjustable but I'm not using it unless it's snowing. The sleeves offer plenty of range of motion. I never feel like the jacket is getting tight across my back or chest. I bought the brownish color. And the color in the photo is accurate. I really like it. Not too brown. Not too khaki. I would buy the jacket again. ... show more

Jacket is very warm. Used same jacket last year in 12 degree weather and did not get cold. I'm 6' 203 lbs. Ordered XL and perfect fit. Carhartt winter gear is excellent.

  • comfy and warm stylish
Color: Tarmac Size: Small
Beyond amazed about this jacket. Bought so I wouldn’t freeze my nugs off while working outside. Was around 25* F. outside no rain cloudy day and only wore thermal long sleeve with a T-shirt and stayed comfortable warm. As far as wearing during cloudy day and 50* F. I wore a y shirt underneath and was to warm. The insulation is works well. Not very water resistant though, if it’s a light sprinkle for 6+hrs you’ll be fine. Heavy rainfall though and expect rain water to seep through to clothes underneath soaked in matter of hour or so. Material looks very durable and long lasting. Have owned mine now for several months. May try and update review again after year + of use. ... show more

  • It's worth paying more for a jacket that's going to last forever
Color: Black Size: Large Tall
This is the first Carhartt item I ever had and love it. I won't say it's perfect however. I'm 5' 9" and I ordered big and tall and the length goes a little below the waist which is good but feels a bit bulky, unless you have a cheap hoodie underneath which is what I almost always do with this jacket. PROS -Tightly woven if not washed which is great against light rain and windy days -Deep Hood to keep wind and rain off face easier -Adjustable bungee bottom to keep heat in -Has nice collar that helps functionality -It's double sleeved meaning it has a fit sleeve at your wrist like a hoodie but than has another tough sleeve that comes past it, which helps a fair amount to keep hands warmer -This jacket's outer layer or shell so to speak it super tough, I caught it's sleeve on barbwire and didn't notice till it slipped off the barb, couldn't find where the fence even caught the jacket -Detachable hood -Inner pockets CONS -Price but worth it -the hood is maybe too long for some people because it'll be blocking part of your top view (unless you wear beanie or cap) -If you wear big enough gloves you might need to put something on the zippers, at least for the front phone pocket -can't keep your sleeves up if you pull them back (at least not for me) Overall, it's a great jacket that's really worth what I got it for which was on sale at $130. ... show more
