  • First use of a Bluetooth - Jackpot!
In preparation for a 1 month, 4000 mile motorcycle trip I thought I would try a Bluetooth system in conjunction with my new iPhone 13. Without a doubt, this combination has greatly changed - for the good - my motorcycling experience; it’s also made my wife happy since I am now accessible to her while I’m driving. I recall reading a few reviews stating the installation took them maybe 30 minutes. That was not my experience at all, I would say it took me at least two hours. Perhaps I’m more anal than some, but I wanted to get it right. The audio is exceptional, as long as you enjoy treble more than bass (the treble brought clarity to whatever I listened to). In my experience, I was able to make & receive phone calls easily as well as listen to my Sirius XM radio stations or my portfolio of music. As others have mentioned, the 4 buttons which require various combinations of actuation are a bit confusing, but only because the process is new. A couple more weeks of this process and I will have them down pat. As for the battery, not only does it charge very fast, I have yet to run out of battery power although I have had days in excess of eight or nine hours of use. BTW, for those of you who are wondering, and it should be many of you, how bad was the wind noise? I personally wear a full shell, HJC helmet, which is on the low end of price points of helmets. Though the wind noise usually seems fairly loud, I was shocked at the clarity of the audio the first time I received a phone call. I inquired of my caller and was told they could hear me perfectly, almost like I was just calling from the backseat of their car. As for talk shows and music, almost always I could hear in such a way as to have full understanding of what was being said or sung. Prior to my purchase of the Cardo Bluetooth, I studied and studied and studied other Bluetooth systems. Thus far, with over two weeks and nearly 2500 miles of driving, I am 100% satisfied with the Cardo system ... show more

  • Great Sound!
I wish I could give a complete review on the Bluetooth communication capabilities, but I ride solo. However, despite this, the speakers are incredible, and the mic works great for phone calls. It's mounted inside my helmet and there's no wind noise while on the phone. Or so the person on the other end tells me. In either case, I'd buy this again if I needed to. It's such a cool device, I really can't imagine riding without now. 5 stars for Cardo! ... show more

  • Good for music, not so much for voice.
This is very nice when listening to music, but the microphone does not work for Siri or anything, and people on phone calls will have trouble hearing you. Make sure the fabric on the inside of your helmet does not cover where you ear goes, otherwise it will muffle the speakers.

  • Works really great, but not as well as a previous model
This thing works well. Has all the hallmarks of a Cardo unit. However, a couple of things. First, I moved from a Cardo Packtalk Bold. This unit doesn't have the bass the Packtalk Bold did. It's got solid sound, and you'll be able to hear everything while riding, but a direct sound comparison (using the same speakers that came with the Packtalk Bold) reveals a distinct lack of bass. Second thing, the skip or next track button is the rear most button. It's super weird since realistically it should be the front most button, which is what you instinctively go for while riding. Then you have to stop yourself and remember it's the rear button. Very distracting while riding. Voice recognition on this is the same as on the Packtalk Bold. It doesn't ever respond if I'm going over 30mph... Cardo needs some work on this feature overall. Battery life on this thing is awesome. Easily get around 3hrs. Overall, you can't find a better unit at this price point. It may have a couple of drawbacks, but they're minor, and liveable. Buy this, and you'll be happy. ... show more

  • Great for two riders and phone calls
Ok, it was pretty simple to set up…I bought 2 for me and my girl to talk when we ride. The comma system works great (sometimes it’s static sitting right next to each other so I’m not sure why) Whenever I get a phone call it comes through clear and people can hear me fine. One caller said they couldn’t even hear the wind from the road! For some reason the volume turns down when I slow down (I’m sure it’s a setting thing that I haven’t figured out) Over all…well worth the purchase. ... show more

  • Average performance
I have never had another speaker system for my helmet, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I can't imagine it's more than average. It connects to the phone easily, and people can hear me fine, but anything over 45 mph and I can barely hear them over the wind noise - the speakers aren't loud at all, definitely not loud enough. Music - forget about it, can't hear it over 45mph either. ... show more

  • Happy with my Cardo Freecom 2+
I've been using this Cardo Freecom 2+ for about six months and really like it. I have it BT connected to my android phone and to a Garmin GPS. I primarily use it to listen to music and occasionally answer a phone call. I have not used it to communicate with a riding buddy. It replaced a no-name BT headset, and it is better in every regard. It is nice to have spoken status announcements. The buttons are easy to find and work fine for simple actions. For things I don't do often, I can use the app on the phone, and some things are controlled from the GPS, like answering a call. Battery duration is great, and there is ample warning when the battery gets low. The FM radio works well also. I wear earplugs for hearing protection. The speakers took a bit of effort to position them just right where they are close to my ear, but not applying any pressure. I end up listening to music in the second to the loudest setting. So for me, the audio volume is plenty despite wearing earplugs. I am using it in a modular dual-sport helmet and used the clamp to attach it. Installation was easy. ... show more

  • Good addition!
Worked well and pretty easy to install. Voice quality is clear when calling people. FM good function so your not riding in silence and still able to hear traffic clearly. I was wearing ear protection in addition but still able to hear well enough. Con: packaging looked like it’s been tampered. So unsure if I got a refurbished item even if it’s bought new. ... show more
