I bought this desk for a 2023 Model Y. I liked the material and the fact that it collapses down. I didn't like the varied holes and notches in the top of the desk as they seem unnecessary and hard to use with a mouse. But that's not the fatal problem. The main issue is that it cannot support the weight of one very light surface pro and keyboard. I've had much heavier laptops in the past and I'm shocked that after 2 uses the desk is so bowed that it touches my legs. DON'T BUY. I wish I could send it back. ... show more

    • Sturdy and stable, but self-standing is difficult to use.
This satisfies the need very well, it folds and opens very easily, folding makes it easy to put away in it's provided bag. Open it is very sturdy, with surprisingly stable hinges. There is a third configuration suggested by the advertisements, one where the wings are held at right angle so that it may be used as a lap-desk, but standing on its own horizontally as opposed to sitting on the legs where everything will slide off. In reality this third configuration is not useful. It may have been when i was a child with thin legs, but my legs are thicker than the space that alots, and it's not relaxing to keep my knees clamped together anyway. Further, the position of the wings is held by a wire strut that slips under a spacer held down by a screw, and the strut itself also constrains how much space my legs are allotted (where they that slender). Further, once that wire strut is slipped under that spacer, you really have to aligator-wrestle with it to get it free again. That third configuration isn't super-useful for a proper grown-up now that Steve Irwin isn't around to help us get it flat again. There's a few issues that i wish could be improved. 1. the slot to balance a cell phone should have been wide enough to balance a tablet instead. It's also a bit narrow for a phone or tablet with any kind of portective cover. 2. the item as a whole is very wide, it doesn't really center perfectly over the lap, but i get it, it was meant to have a second one in the passenger seat to hold it in place, since it reaches exactly halfway across, but i have only one, and there's nothing preventing it from sliding across the center console and dropping on the window side. 3. I get it that the wings are meant to make it smaller for stowage, but since it's impractical to use folded over the lap, it would have been better to have it fold perfectly without gap, making it smaller yet. The choice to make it positionable over a small child's lap with knees clamped together isn't as helpful as making it smaller yet in stowage would have been. 4. tablet teetering, and paper pad on top, writing, the thing jiggles quite a bit, it's just not rigid enough to keep everything in place. Even with a laptop, the weight of the laptop makes it sag a little, it feels cheap. More rigid would have been much better. Update: after using this for over a month, problem 2 above has become a problem, it keeps slipping off the armrest. It also occasionally tilts forward on the center console if load isn't balanced. ... show more

I really like this passenger side “lap desk” I used it for working while on a road trip and it much better than trying to control my laptop computer in my lap. I like the stability legs at the bottom and the rubber ridges that keep the laptop from shifting as much. It’s very stable, but it can still shift in transit. I do recommend this product. I wish there was a little (foldable) hook or anchor to attach the door to help with stability a bit more. ... show more
