Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes. The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance. Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

  • Good Quality, but Sizing is Off
Special Size: Little Kid (4-8 Years) Size: 2 Wide Little Kid Color: Black Patenlite
These are good quality shoes for little kids starting out in tap. My daughter is 6 and these are her first tap shoes. She wears a 13 in street shoes and her feet are medium width, not too wide, but definitely not narrow. I got her a 1 Wide and they were too tight and too small. The description of the shoes says to go up half to one size, so I went up one full size and still too tight and too small. I returned them and got a size 2 Wide and they are okay width wise, still seem narrow to me. As far as size, they’re too big but we will work with them. I didn’t trust getting a 1.5 so I went with the size 2 and we are okay with that. I’d rather my daughter be comfortable and not in pain. ... show more

  • True to size.
Special Size: Little Kid (4-8 Years) Size: 2.5 Wide Little Kid Color: Black Patenlite
I bought 1.5 size up for my daughter because of the reviews and to let some room to grow, and they run pretty big on my daughter, for my experience I should buy the normal size. They seems strong and are cute.

  • Really nice quality but sizing is WAY off.
Special Size: Toddler (1-4 Years) Size: 7.5 Wide Toddler Color: Black Patent
Overall these are really nice quality (just ordered my daughter her 3rd pair) but the sizing is WAY off and run insanely small. It took a few tries before we found the right fit. My 3.5 year old doesn't have wide feet but I need to get the wide shoes otherwise they are so uncomfortable and need to size up. ... show more

  • Runs VERY small.
Special Size: Toddler (1-4 Years) Size: 7 Wide Toddler Color: Black Patent
I initially ordered a size 5.5 for my almost 2 year old who wears a size 5 in all other shoes. They were TINY!! I returned them and got a 7 wide and they are perfect. I definitely recommend going 2 sizes up from normal size.

  • Size sizing
Special Size: Little Kid (4-8 Years) Size: 11.5 Wide Little Kid Color: Black Patent
The size was right. Just don’t understand why they make tap shoes so narrow!!

  • Great Shoe- love the elastic back up to the tie- very age appropriate
Special Size: Little Kid (4-8 Years) Size: 12 Wide Little Kid Color: Black Patenlite
Using for dance class- easy on and off with the classic tie over elastic. Fits great and holding up so far!
