Description

The Jr. Tyette tap shoe is the number one choice for a beginner tapper. Comes in shiny black patent leather, caramel PU leather or white PU leather. Adorable ribbon tie and star printed cotton lining will inspire your little dancer to have Broadway sized dreams. Features foam padded footbed, collar and Achilles notch for added comfort and security. Introductory tappers will take their first steps with confidence in the Jr. Tyette. Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes. The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance. Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

  • Cute tap shoes
Size: 11 Little Kid Color: Black Patent
I took a stab at ordering these for my daughter because I didn't have anything to go off since I have never needed to purchase tap shoes before. They looked a little narrow and I thought they might be snug on the sides of her feet, but she said they were comfortable and she seemed to be walking around just fine in them so time may tell but very happy with our purchase. I'd say they are true to size but size up if you are unsure. As far as how they look, they are adorable. I love that they have a band across the top of the foot to hold them securely and then lace on top to tie a bow - so cute! They seem well made and I think they will hold up nice through my daughters first tap classes! ... show more

  • Very Nice Tap Shoes
Size: 11 Little Kid Color: Black Patent
I purchased these and a similar pair by Bloch for my 4 year old to try since she's starting dance lessons. Got them in black patent color. There's a fixed elastic strap and the shoes can be worn with just the elastic straps. Or you can use the included grosgrain ribbon laces which allows you to better control the fit. Daughter wears size 10. I ordered 11. There's some room but they're not as big on her as actual size 11 shoes. So I think other reviewers recommending to size up is the way to go. The two brands looked very similar. I actually like this pair because the inserts are pink and feel slightly thicker and softer. The toe box seemed shorter and rounder which I found cuter. But after my daughter tried them both on, she insisted on the Bloch pair. Both brands are similar quality and similarly priced. Can't go wrong with either! ... show more

  • True to size
Size: 12.5 Little Kid Color: Black Patent
These run true to size. Good shoes run smaller than cheaply made shoes. We had just had our grandchildren fitted for shoes at a quality shoe store. I had forgotten that the last time we ordered these we had to order true to size so I ordered according to the reviews. Oops! Too big. So we ordered true to size and they worked. Now to return the bigger ones. ... show more

  • Shoe is perfect - but too small
Size: 7 Toddler Color: Black Patent
My daughter usually wears a size 7M, just recently went from 6 to 7. I ordered 7M and they were too small and narrow. I exchanged for a 7.5 Wide and they are PERFECT! She has room for growth and they are not too wide or narrow. She's only 2.5 years old, so I don't know how long the shoes or the classes will last! Either way they are adorable and beautiful quality. They have an elastic strap beneath the wide ribbon laces that keeps them secure. You can completely take off the laces if you'd like, which is helpful for a curious toddler that can't re-tie her own shoe. The ballet class asked that they not have the laces. You can't buy those elastic straps anywhere online! So these are the PERFECT shoe!!! I made the mistake of waiting too long to buy and had to buy a pair from Payless for my other daughter (5yo). They have a special line "Spotlights" of ballet and tap shoes endorsed by the American Ballet Theatre. They were $26.99 and didn't have the elastic beneath the ribbon laces. I really like the quality of this Capezio shoe better than Payless. Capezio tights are also great color and quality! ... show more

  • Good Quality, but Sizing is Off
Size: 2 Wide Little Kid Color: Black Patenlite
These are good quality shoes for little kids starting out in tap. My daughter is 6 and these are her first tap shoes. She wears a 13 in street shoes and her feet are medium width, not too wide, but definitely not narrow. I got her a 1 Wide and they were too tight and too small. The description of the shoes says to go up half to one size, so I went up one full size and still too tight and too small. I returned them and got a size 2 Wide and they are okay width wise, still seem narrow to me. As far as size, they’re too big but we will work with them. I didn’t trust getting a 1.5 so I went with the size 2 and we are okay with that. I’d rather my daughter be comfortable and not in pain. ... show more

  • Everything You Need In A Tap Shoe!
Size: 9 Toddler Color: Black Patent
These tap shoes are perfect! We are on our second set of shoes. Capezio is a dependable brand & one I trust (I was a dancer for 10 years). It’s a great quality shoe will hold up for your tapping toddler. I love that there is a piece of elastic to hold the shoe on their foot vs just depending on the ribbon to hold. You could even skip using the ribbon if you want but it does look cuter with. I purchased one full size bigger than what my daughter wears. For example my daughter wears a size 8 in regular shoes (Carters, Cat & Jack) & I purchased a size 9 for her. They are a little big but will last her longer. Going a size up does not effect her dancing or walking in them. A few things to know when buying tap shoes 1. They should have a rubber grip at the ball of the foot. Cheaper tap shoes do not have them & your toddler is more likely to slip. Most dance studios recommend this too. 2. Black is the classic color the one I recommend buying. They will more than likely be required to wear black shoes for their dance recital. 3. Do not let them wear them outside. They are not made for outside & can create a lot of wear on the shoe & taps (same with ballet shoes). Also, your toddler will probably want to wear them at home (at least mine do). Please know that these shoes are very, very slippery on tile & you will need to hold onto them. If you have carpet, they will be fine if course. You should be fine with wood floors too but do hold onto them until you know for sure. ... show more

  • Perfect Tap Shoes for Sensitive Kiddo
Size: 11.5 Narrow Little Kid Color: Black Patent
My littlest dancer is very sensitive to the way clothes and shoes feel and these were the only brand of two shoes that didn’t have pinchy, hard or bulky material at the sides and top of the foot where the strap crosses over. I love that the strap is fixed and not a snap on (my older dancer kept losing her snap straps!), the ribbon adds a bit of soft material over the eyelets and of course they sound fabulous according to my little dancer. We returned the narrow size because they were a smidge too narrow with her dance socks on, so keep that in mind when ordering. We went 1/2 size up from her street shoes and she has a little room to grow into them. ... show more
