  • Proper replacement
Works as it should, I used it to replace a broken gas cylinder on an Embody. The removal process requires patience and brute force, (I used a good pipe wrench and a big hammer), whereas inserting the new one is easy and it fits right into place.

  • 10 minute replacement and breathed new life into my Herman Miller Embody chair
After almost 15 years, the original actuator on my Herman Miller Embody chair had begun to slowly sag. This pneumatic gas cylinder was a perfect fit, is the same height, looks, and works identically to the old one. Using a screwdriver, large pipe wrench (with teeth), wood block, and hammer, switching it out was straight forward and easy. The entire process took me about 10 minutes and no more sagging! Watch a few YouTube videos for reference. Hopefully it holds up as long as the original did. ... show more

  • It works and this is how I replaced the part on my Embody
Perfect fit for my Herman Miller Embody chair. You don’t need fancy tools to remove the old one from your chair, first to get that base off, get a sludge hammer and beat that until it’s loose. Then second, after disconnecting the cable from the top, use a pipe wrench to loosen it from the seat and it comes off. No lifting tool and hammering needed for that part. ... show more

  • Decent Replacement for Stock Cylinder
UPDATE: As noted in my original review, right out of the box this had a little bit more give to it than the stock cylinder did. When you sit in it, it dips several inches. All cylinders do this - even new ones - but this one was more than you'd expect. Now, after only a month of using it, it sinks even more. Probably another 3/4". If it sinks any more it'll soon be at the level my stock one was when I started having thoughts of replacing it, and it's nearly at a level that, even when fully extended, is too low for me. At this point I've opted to replace it with an OEM part from an online distributor. This seemed like a good buy considering OEM replacement parts can often cost over $100+ with shipping, and this did seem like a very good one-to-one replacement for a stock/OEM cylinder, but it clearly isn't built to the same standards. For the record I am 240lbs, but this is supposed to be rated for 350lbs. Perhaps if you are a lighter individual you won't have the same issues. --- This is nearly a one-to-one replacement for the stock cylinder of a 2013 Embody. Getting the old one off was a hassle, but once I did this one slipped right on. Works as expected. My only complaint is it does have a bit more give than a new cylinder should have. It dips an inch or two more than I'd like when sitting in it, despite being nowhere near the weight limit. Feels more like the stock one did after about 7 years of use. But given it was cheaper than most OEM replacement listings I've seen, it's a fair trade-off. ... show more

  • Fits perfect (Mirra 1)
This fit the bill and works flawlessly. If you have a Mirra 1 chair, this will work perfectly. The chairs not so easy to take apart but the part is identical to the original gas cylinder .

  • Authentic replacement
Not much to say, exact replacement, worked great.

  • Easy to install; removing the old cylinder took a lot of hammering
This replaced the old leaking (slowly lost height) lift cylinder in my Herman Miller "Mirra" chair. You can find plenty of videos on youtube that detail how to get at the top of the cylinder (the Mirra takes a bit of disassembly with a T40 screwdriver) and also on how to remove the cylinder from the chair base. Yes, it involves a LOT of hammering, even with a 16oz hammer. I'm happy that I've done it as I found that my chair lowering over the course of a day or two ended up causing me weird pains as my working position shifted. ... show more
