I had been researching standing mats and discovered the NON-FLAT category of standing mats. According to the to developers these mats promote foot movement, which is more beneficial physically then stationary standing. I have a power standing desk at home (ConSet) and a standing desk platform (ReadyDesk) at work. I alternate sitting/standing by 4/4 hourly ratio when at work. It would be somewhat inappropriate to go shoeless in my work environment, so I wear well cushioned comfortable footwear while working. I purchased the "Butterfly" mat for my home, where I work two to three days a week. It is at home where i stand shoeless and in need of some foot comfort and support. When i returned home from work and discovered my mat had arrived, i immediately tried it out. OUTSTANDING (pun intended), after thinking I stood comfortably at work, I was surprised how great this mat felt when I placed my shoeless feet on this mat. I am typically an active stander, so foot movement promotion was not an interest, foot massage and stimulation was the key reason for the purchase and this mat is worth the investment. As your feet move across the surface, there are humps, angles and bumps that just stimulates and relaxes your feet. The middle rise down the middle is my favorite foot placement. I use the back edge to do calf flexes and the front edge for toe curls. It 's width is perfect to stand in a stradle position and have the small bumps along the wings massage the balls of your feet. The mat is fixed in on spot while standing on it, but can be easily moved with you feet (no need to bend and pick-up) to a place out of the way of your chair if you decided to sit. This mat my not be for everyone, but i do recommend it as an option to the typical standing mats. ... show more

This thing is massive. It's my own fault as the product page does tell you the size of the mat, but my brain still thought it was smaller based on the photos. There's just a lot of unused real estate on this thing. The low rating isn't for the size, however. It's because all the "bumps" serve no purpose. I thought they would be a lot denser so you could "massage" your feet basically, which is what I gathered from other reviews. I can't even feel the small round bumps when I step on them and the large mound in the middle isn't dense enough to do anything. The raise edges at the very top and bottom of the wings are better, and I wish the rest of the bumps were at least that dense. If you're looking for something that isn't so flat, I recommend getting a mat that has separate balls you can roll around on top of. ... show more

I recently converted my desk to a stand up version at work. Felt great, other than after a few hours of standing my feet, shins and lower back began to hurt. I found this mat on Amazon and decided to give it a try. It has been the perfect solution. The mat feels great. I love the variations in the surface. I occasionally slip my shoes off and use the variations to massage my feet. The mat is very sturdy and thick and doesn't slip around on the tiled office floor. However, it is very easy to slide out of the way. I just use my foot to push it out of the way or re position when needed. I have been using this for several weeks. I alternate sitting and standing throughout the day. The mat is working well and I like the multiple surfaces. I'm always in shoes (no bare feet in the office, just not acceptable, in my opinion) and find myself moving both feet over/on the center or body of the butterfly to relieve fatigue. The mat does make a noise when I do this, but so far no complaints from the guy I share an office with. I only wear casual or tennis shoes (no high heels, which are not recommended). Excellent mat, well worth the investment. The office flooring is carpeted and I have a chair mat. The butterfly mat moves easily in and out under my desk as I alternate sitting and standing. Suggest measuring to be sure you have room to move the mat in and out. The mat is so comfortable, I find myself using it even when I'm sitting. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I am new to the standing desk and I knew I need a standing mat. So I searched on the google then i found Butterfly mat video on youtube. Afte watched the video, I decided to give it a try. The mat works great so far. -The cute butterfly shape, larger than I expected -The middle humps feel great on the feet -The beveled edges helps ankles movement and stretching -Comfortable to stand on, relieve fatigue after long hours of standing It is a must have for anyone with a standing desk! This mat is really amazing! From the moment I stepped on it, I felt the fatigue drain from my body with the better body alignment than I had just moments before. I love the various ways of massaging my feet with raised bumps or for the whole foot the butterfly's body does that, too. The beveled edges help for giving the foot and ankles a bit of movement/stretching. The mat itself is very comfortable to the sensitive skin of the feet, perfect for comfortable temperature, too. The size is perfect for adjusting the body in all the ways you may need to move and reach while doing work at your work station. The bottom of the mat is smooth making it easy to move for adjustments on any floor surface, but not slippery. I wasn't sure if this would really be a worthwhile buy but decided to give it a try as I have back, shoulder and neck issues after standing only on the floor. After getting my standup desk for work, I starting having problems standing for a long time with my knee (2 surgeries on that knee). This is extremely soft and thick, which makes me able to stand for longer periods of time at my desk. Well worth the price for the comfort it provides. And, I like the different angles that I can stand on as well either barefoot or with my toe shoes. ... show more
