These shelves are advertised as wood. See photos above. However they are NOT WOOD bookshelves. They are particle board crap that comes with a paper back. I am not pleased at all.

This is pressed wood, not solid; not even the nicer MDF that some of these come in, with a thin paper back. The finish isnt durable as you can see it flake while inserting fasteners. I would not order again. At this price I expected much nicer material.

We only received one bookshelf unit which we put together and installed so it is impossible to return it. No customer service to work out this issue, we would just like the second unit.

The product itself is quite good. Assembly was fairly straightforward. The biggest improvement vs. old models is that the shelves are much thicker, which will probably keep them from bowing under the weight of books as they did in the past. HOWEVER, the service on this order was horrible. I waited for over a month to receive shipment, after repeated calls and inquiries. Was also very disappointed with the Bush Furniture customer service as well - I had asked to purchase an additional shelf and was told that I could not. As others have mentioned, the delivery of this can be a mess. Second time we got boxes that were in great shape. Shelves look good. No, they aren't solid wood but they look good. They are definitely sturdy and have some adjustable shelves. We bought a door kit but haven't installed it yet. If you want to have matching shelves and desks in an office but don't want to spend a ton, Bush is a good and sturdy brand. They also have plenty of options so you can pick a desk and shelves that fit your room. We looked into buying solid furniture at consignment stores. Sizes, stains, and shapes just didn't work for office. I'm happy. ... show more

The cabinet is sturdy and looks great BUT the dimensions in the picture/sketch does not match the description from seller. I bought it because I needed exactly a 36" wide bookcase for each side of my desk but the bookcase is 37" wide and didn't fit. I am not returning because I found use for them on other area of my home but I was really disappointed and reason why only 3 stars. Lesson learn, read twice. The positives: look great, heavy duty, easy to put together; The one really big negative: terrible, terrible shipping problems. i needed six of these. Four have arrived unbroken out of thirteen attempts. (i'm done trying at this point) And by broken, i mean two were so badly broken that UPS left them at their station relaying to me they were 100% UN-deliverable. Amazon was great on the phone, responsive, will refund when they receive damaged products back. This is a great product, but shipping disastrous. ... show more

IT CAME IN EXCLENT CONDITION AND I STILL NEED TO PUT IT TOGETHER. i gave it 3 stars because when a friend of mine helped me put it together we did everything like the instructions said and put the back cover on it and then we both stud it up and put it where i wanted it and the left side when you are facing it came apart to where you can not put anything on the top shelves and the bottom shelf will not stay on the pins. the other shelves are on the pins on the right side but not all the way on the left side. still have 1 in the other box but will not try to put it together. ... show more
