Although I feel like this seat is better than many highchairs, the tray is very flawed. Most of the top highchairs have trays that can be easily cleaned, are solid plastic with no seams, and can be put in the dishwasher. This tray has none of those benefits. The seat keeps my son upright, not angled back, which is much safer in terms of choking. The tray sits at the waist, not the chest, much better for building pincer grip and coordination. The seat itself is easily cleaned, as everything can be taken off and cleaned. The tray unfortunately has a void inside. That means that cleaning this tray properly for use with food, (which means without harsh chemicals), in the sink with soap and water gets water inside the voids. It is really unavoidable. Eventually this will cause mold growth. I have attached photos of the inside of our tray after a few months use. We like the rest of the benefits so much, that we purchased a second one (since the company does not sell or replace the trays, and ignores our emails) and I have drilled a series of vent holes in the bottom of the tray. This allows me to run hot soapy water through the voids, treat it with vinegar every couple of weeks and has a better shot drying. If you own one, I recommend smelling the button on the bottom, that's where the moldy smell eventually comes from. ... show more

After a day of research, I finally bought this for my 3-month old son, who is wanting to sit rather than laid down. As soon as I received it, I got my son to try it and he loves it!

    • Great seat, but the tray is AWFUL for cleaning.
(2 year update below) I like this seat a lot. We have been using it for about 5 months now, and it's worked quite well for us. The seat looks to be fairly comfortable and there are enough belts to keep it secure on the chair and the baby secure in his seat. And this seat allows you to stash everything that goes in the set on or under the seat, which is an awesome feature -- that way you don't ever misplace any of its parts. That said, it's got a major issue with the tray: it is impossible to clean it properly. The tray is flat on the top and dome-y on the bottom, and so there's empty space inside the tray. This, in of itself, is fine. But the problem is that the mechanism that allows the try to latch on the seat creates openings to the interior. This means, you can't wash the thing without getting some (or a lot) of water into it. There's no way to completely drain the thing. The first time I found the issue I stood there shaking the water out of the tray for probably half hour. Even then, I could still hear sloshings inside. I did set it out to dry but that doesn't do much, especially, if you live in a humid climate as I do. Most of the time we resort to wiping it than washing, but that only gets you so far especially when you are dealing with an infant, who by nature is incorrigibly messy. The worst about it is that after 5 months I think mold is now growing in that space. I want to open it up to clean it well, but that's impossible. I really don't get it how a infant item that is used for eating could not have been designed for easy cleaning. I wish there was a way to open it up and give it a good scrub. Now with mold growing in it... I am not sure what to do. Do we stop using it? Or do I just wipe what mold is peeking out of the holes and just ignore the issue? Gross. I want to give it 5 stars, because I do like this chair. I really do. But this cleaning thing is really bad. And mold just made it worse. Not sure I would recommend this to others. I'd probably urge my friends to reconsider -- especially those living in humid climates. [2 year update:] After the post we did our best to clean the try and continued on using the seat and tray for another 3 month or so. 2 years later, now that we have another child nearing the age of 6 mo, we pulled it out for use. Again, the seat is just fine. The tray, though, is not just moldy but the springs inside have rusted and crusted (lost their spring) likely from not being able to fully air out and dry. This also means that the latches won't work anymore, so the tray is 100% useless. I confess I'm sad and disappointed. After a lot of debating, we decided to order a new tray for this multi seat --- as much as we hate the tray, we like the seat so very much. It was 13 dollars including shipping (don't leave online-email message; call their 1800 number instead. much faster turnaround). And THIS time, you bet we we will be wiping it clean instead of dunking in water or washing under running water. What pain, but ah well. ... show more

The best part about this seat is that this is the only seat so far that I have found which keeps the child in an upright position while eating. Thanks to the rubber/ foam ( I actually don't know what that colorful insert material is) insert, my child never slides from the seat unlike other booster seats we have tried. The back support is upright and not at some obtuse angle and that's perfect. The one thing that I absolutely don't like about this seat is the tray. Just for the sake of the tray, we had to buy another seat again! Ya, this is our second seat. And like many others have complained, the tray doesnt drain water efficiently. After using the first seat for a year and carrying this whole seat across the globe and back, it accumulated hard water salts in India and not to mention the pre- existing mold with just few months of usage. To fix this, my husband drilled holes in the wrong place and ruined the spring action of the tray. Also salt deposition had already compromised the attachment. So we purchased another seat just for the tray. This time, however, we drilled the holes correctly like some other reviewer had pointed out with pictures. Although, drilling around three holes near the center round portion of the tray is sufficient and it doesn't need too many holes to efficiently drain the water. The company should either sell just the trays or make it easier to clean the tray. Minus two stars for this reason. ... show more

Gotta love the big boy (or girl) bumbo! We bought this for our 4 month old as his head/back control was pretty solid and chunky thighs were getting too thick for the one they sell for 1-3 month old kids. This is a bit bigger in the legs and wider, so you should only buy it if your infant is sitting up straight, or at least getting close to doing so, otherwise they'll just roll over to the left and right. The other nice thing about this upgraded version of the bumbo is that it has a built-in tray for kiddos to bang on / eat food off of that inserts seamlessly into the back of the bumbo when not in use. Another plus is that the softer insert can be removed for when the kid gets older/bigger, so they can use it for years. ... show more
