It's a very simple product but adds a lot of function to your truck. Install is incredibly easy once you get the seat down. Just remove 2 T30 screws, connect the strap, slide on the bracket and reinstall. The bracket and strap look and feel high quality. Worth the money!

I just purchased a new 2024 F-150. As is my wont, the new truck got a lot of new toys: Tonneau cover, corner bed step, jumper cables, toolboxes etc. Potential for additional storage space for flattish stuff offered by this simple, clever Builtright Industries rear seat release, magically freeing two seat back's worth of storage for only $35 was an easy choice... or so I thought. Watching the install videos, the release seemed so easy to install, it was a no brainer. So, when it arrived today, I immediately went out to the truck, Torx set in hand and installed it. It was as easy as promised. Tested it a few times before locking the seat back in position, then pulled the fabric loop and... NOTHING! the seat was locked firmly in place! No matter how hard I yanked, the seat remained immobile. Under my breath I said things about the folks at Builtright that would have made a sailor blush... how the heck was I ever going to release the seat so I could return this obviously defective device for a refund. I pulled and yanked and even put the wrench through the fabric loop to exert more force. It was only then that I realized that I was pulling the factory installed child seat retainer. The seat release loop was just to the right of that. A gentle pull and the seat back released its death grip and leaned down. To the folks at Builtright, please accept my sincere apologies for the terrible things I said about you while struggling to remove the child seat securement loop. Your product worked EXACTLY as advertised, and provided convenient storage for a portfolio full of targets. If you aren't sure about buying this, do it. Ten minute install and works as advertised. To the person in the comment section that said buy the Chinese knock off for less, shame on you. These folks developed something good and make it in the USA, creating jobs and supporting manufacturing here. Offshoring manufacturing has hurt our country. China doesn't respect our intellectual property. Create jobs here and support our country by buying USA made products whenever possible. Now, the little trick. Don't pull on the baby seat retainer. No matter how hard you do, the seat won't come down.

Here is the scenario. I purchased a 2024 Ford F-150 XLT and that experience was horrible. This is my first time owning a pickup so I was unaware of features of a pickup. I asked the salesman is the back seat (vertical part) comes down for storage behind the seat and was told "No, they discontinued that feature for the 2024 models". Then I went to YouTube only to discover it does lay down via a little latch behind the seat. It took a box wrench to get to it, but it did release the seat. Enter this product from BuiltRight. I searched for easier options to release that latch and ran across the BuiltRight Rear Seat Release and decided to get it. It took all of 5 minutes to install and now I can let the darn seat down with ease! I love it! One thing to note: There is a notch on the factory latch that does not fit back properly once you install the BuiltRight Release. You will need a screwdriver to bend it a bit to fit back in the OEM slot. After that, it's smooth sailing. I highly recommend this product and it should come standard on all pickups.

Took about 15 minutes to install and provided access to behind the rear seat. It works okay but is pretty expensive for what it is.

2018 F150 Platinum - This is a brilliant, high quality, easy to install little gadget. However, if you have a factory mounted subwoofer installed on the rear bulkhead behind the seat, it will really not solve your storage problem. Even if you want to use the rear of the seat back as a platform for Groceries, etc., there is too much electronic connectors on my seat back that I would not want to risk damaging them. I tried to put my jumper cables in the space opened up by the product, but then my seats were interfered with as I put it back into position. If you do not have the factory subwoofer, then this is 10 out of 10!

This works really well not really much storage behind the rear seat but I can put a small tool kit or some of the things in my door pockets back there , it was very easy to install

Installation was straightforward and easy. Ford makes it hard to get to the back of the seat to unlatch it but videos on the product website helped quite a bit. Adjusting the latch was tricky because my factory latch was very sticky but I eventually worked it out. The 5-10 minute install ended up taking me 15-20 with most of that being my fault. If you have an F-150 that this product fits, get this!
