I like this planner for the ease of use. It has budget pages, check lists, and debt tracking pages, which are nice. Some of the notation areas are kind of small and I'm having to write very tiny to keep track of things, but that's ok. I also like that the pages have color printing and aren't just black and white. The book opens flat with the spiral spine and it has a heavy plastic cover.

Well, I'm not a beginner at budgeting, which is one of the rating features asked for, though this book would indeed be good for that too. (Other rating features are "Easy to Use" and "Sturdiness". 5 stars all around). What I am is somewhat old-school; I just prefer to have everything written down on actual paper that I can look at, even in a power outage, or if my computer malfunctions (which have both happened!) This book is well organized and has everything you need to budget easily and effectively, and keep track of all your finances. It would also make a nice gift for someone just starting out. The price is definitely worth it! And a good bargain is a great way to start out in your budgeting journey.

This is a such a great organizing system, it's already incentivized me to graduate from a self-created spreadsheet to this planner. The way my mind worsk, I'm a very “overview” kind of person who needs to step back and see the big picture. The way this book is organized is perfect: instead of just paying bills and handling boring paperwork as an odious task at my desk that I'd rather not do, I get to see priorities & progress every month, which I find very rewarding and reassuring. I really appreciate the fact that this system can start at any date, and once it's opened to some pre-set categories and places to enter monthly plans and number, I can use these pages to see progress, one month at a time. You need to write neatly and fairly small, but that’s great discipline as well. A sturdy, attractive, and well-organized little book that brings increasing clarity to my financial life with each passing month.

It's difficult to write a critical review because I really want to like this budget planner. The Good: * Spiral bound with a fairly thick front and back cover. This is built to last and to stand up to being thrown in a bag and carried around. * If someone is totally new to budgeting and minding where their money goes, this is a good learning tool. Even without instructions on how or what to do, this has value to write it all down. In doing so, it's bound to reveal a forgotten or overlooked expense. The Bad: * I'm left handed. Spiral notebooks and me do NOT get along. I will likely give this away or not use it. If I do choose to use it I will pull pages out and then fill them in. * I'm not sure about the name on the cover "Happy" Budget Planner? I've never been happy to set a budget because it usually means that money is tight and I can't afford something. Why are there 3-leaf clovers on the cover? * A lot of this listing, organization, analysis is easier for me to do on an Excel spreadsheet.
