  • Hz function is worthless.
My main reason for buying this model vs the others is that it had a Hz frequency function. I tried to use it to check the frequency stability of my generator and got a reading of minus 2.51-2.58 kHz. When I took a reading of the standard wall socket, I got the same numbers. Of course, the number I expected was 60 Hz. If a meter has a Hz function, it should at least be able to read the standard US voltage frequency of 60 Hz. All the other functions, which admittedly are far more important, work well. ... show more

  • Well, I expected it to at least work.
Bought this as a meter knowing it wasn't gonna be the greatest. I got it to take on lake calls as i work on boats and pwc's. I wanted a cheap meter after i dropped a $200 meter in the lake. However this meter wasn't even anywhere near accurate. I had it on ohms with the leads apart, which should be "OL" instead it gets a mind of it's own and gives me a reading. When the leads touched together reads "1.1ohms" what??? d/c battery voltage was about 3 volts off. I knew i was getting something cheap and inexpensive but i mean i would expect it to atleast work somewhat. Don't waste your money spend a few bucks more. That's what i am having to do. ... show more

  • The one that I got …
The unit that I received does not show three dashes when when it is disconnected, it displays: "-1.557 Volts dc" (with 0.0 Ω with the probes connected together) and it cannot measure a 10. k Ω resistance, it stays on the voltage range with a ".551 V. dc" display. I have not learned to trust this unit yet. Ron W4BIN ... show more

  • Very nice for the very low price, lacks a Range button.
I love the simplicity of the range selector - but one thing it lacks is a "range" button which on other auto-ranging DMM's typically lets you manually select a range (temporarily turning off Auto-Range). Otherwise, for the money, this seems to be a fine, fast responding DVM. It's let down cosmetically by the cheap silver label above the LCD. Battery needs a screwdriver to install and it came without a battery. Continuity responsiveness is good. ... show more

  • Why does the backlight shut off?
Works fine. I just wish the backlight did not automatically shut off so quickly! only stays on for 5-10 seconds, but so did the other multimeter that I bought and returned. At least this one is only $16, but if I found a multimeter with a backlight that does not turn off unless I manually turn it off, I would go for that and send this back. Visibility from above is poor - it fades to almost invisible unless you're looking at it straight on or from below. ... show more

  • Great Price, features and LOUD tone!
I tried to find the cheapest auto range multimeter for a friend who isn't very electronically inclined and ended up choosing this one. My friend is very happy with it, very simple to use, very loud tone which rivals my fluke, leads are good enough. Next I would like him to get some new leads with a bed of nails. ... show more

  • Great Value!
Very nice meter, works great and is very accurate. Would definitely buy again and would recommend to anyone.

  • Very good for price
This is one of the most inexpensive auto-ranging digital multimeters you can buy and it works very well. The audible continuity function works well; albeit delayed a little much (but take that with a grain of salt because if you're buying a budget meter you're most likely not doing hardcore electrical work (I hope). I'd buy again if the need arises. ... show more
