My 2 year old has now had this excavator for about 6 months, and it has held up very well. He has played with it every day and nothing is broken and everything still operates as it should. It's still one of his top 3 favorite toys, and I would highly recommend it to anyone with children that have an interest in construction vehicles. Besides this, I also have a Bruder skid steer. Thought this was metal, but its plastic. Pretty sturdy, though, and my 4-year-old has been LOVING it! A new favorite toy. He's been playing with it for a few days not and I'm surprised that nothing has broken off! Would definitely purchase again.

While plastic, the detail is amazing. I purchased this because I had heard of the quality of Bruder toys, but never held one in my hands personally. It now sits on my desk, and I can offer no review of the real world play value for kids. I think the details would provide interest and play value for older kids well above the typical animated cartoonish fare. My 6 y/o daughter was also fascinated by the detail as well, and often ask to look at it (though not play with it!). ... show more

It is a beautiful toy but it lasted 3 days. The boom broke and we tried many times and ways to fix it but the arm kept falling . My son is 2.5 year old and he' s not rough with his toys. He played with it like he plays with other excavators but this one was just to fragile. We know for sure if we buy another one it'll break in the same place). The blade on front of digger broke with just a few times of play. Grandson used it at my house with kinetic sand so it wasn’t rough okay or even every day play. Expected better for the cost

The plastic nipples which hold the arm of the front loader is still the weakest link. When one of the nipples break, the arm will not stay on and the functioning part of the toy is gone.
