I love walking with these shoes, I feel like I have a better stride. There's lots of support at the heel where I need it, and they feel very light and comfortable. They also lift me a bit off the ground, so it took me a moment to adjust as I wasn't used to wearing a shoe like that. However, I quickly got over it and I've felt more stability and balance and that's important as a big dude like myself. When I have long day of walking, these shoes helped me stay on my feet.

I’ve been running in Glycerin and Glycerin GTS for about five years now and have gone through maybe 20 pairs. This is the first generation change that feels like a step backwards in some ways, but improved in others. My biggest complaint with this line over the years is that the midsole breaks down too fast and I have to replace the shoes earlier than I’d like. I speculate Brooks was trying to make these more durable, which resulted in some issues. What’s worse: The upper is thicker, making for less room for the toes. I have wide feet and like to splay and toe off, so the more limited room was very apparent. I was able to manage this by using heel lock lacing, which pulled my heel further back into the shoe. Thicker upper is less breathable. Added thickness to the midsole makes an unresponsive shoe even less dynamic. What’s better: The added midsole thickness makes it an even plusher ride. Added midsole thickness will hopefully make it more durable. Summary: I can see what Brooks was trying to do here. I think this shoe would be perfect with a thinner upper.

Bought my first pair of these from a shoe store and just loved them. I was told a second pair would make them last even longer as you could alternate them out between walks. At my age I just walk a mile and a half six days a week and these shoes do the trick. Would recommend. Bill J Kappes
