I will stock up on Ghost 13. These feel cheaper and thinner. They don't feel as cushy as years past. The top of the shoe is thinner, which isn't a good thing. Hate the flat laces. This is a dud. I only use these shoes and this is the worst year by far. I hope they fix it. I will be returning these and stocking up on the Ghost 13 ... show more

I was warned these shoes run small, and that was a valuable warning. I selected "Fit as expected" based on my experience related below. If I had bought the size I typically buy I would have selected "Too small" I typically wear a size 9.5 normal width shoe. I went to a store to try this brand on and my normal size was way too small, in length and width. I tried on a 10.5 wide (There was a tag on the shoe that said "Wide" and on the tongue of the shoe was "D") and those fit a lot better. The store didn't have the color I wanted in that size so I looked on Amazon. The width options on the Amazon size selection chart were Narrow, Medium, Wide & Extra Wide. I chose "Wide" based on what I saw at the store. When I got the shoes I looked on the tongue and it showed "2E" for the width. I thought, crap, these things are going to be flopping around on my feet like crazy. But I tried them on and they fit perfectly. So I went up one whole size in length and 2 widths from what I have worn for years. I'm frankly flabbergasted that 59 out of 74 people said this shoe fit "true to size". If I would have bought a 9.5, medium width I would have had to return them. I would caution anyone who wants to buy these shoes on-line to go to a store and try them on before buying. The shoes are very comfortable and light and I would definitely buy Brooks again. I may replace the laces with round ones at some point as I prefer that type of lace. ... show more

My Ghost 12s are the most comfortable shoe ever. From the minute I put them on the first time. The most comfortable. Like standing in close cut, stadium green grass. Firm and soft. I've put over 2,500 miles on them and they are still my favorite shoe. I was really looking forward to Ghost 14s. My Ghost 14s? Most UN-comfortable shoe ever. First time I put them on, it felt like cardboard over concrete. I thought that they would "break in", so I put a few miles on them over 2 days. By the second day, my feet hurt hours after I took them off. Exceptionally disappointed. It is hard for me to believe that the design changed that much from 12 to 14. Note: I do have a left foot injury and good shoes are critical and hard to find. The Ghost 12s exceeded my requirements for my left foot. But, it was my right foot -- not my left -- that was aching hours after my second outing in Ghost 14s. Within a day of returning to my Ghost 12s, all pain ceased. Just my experience. I ordered a 15 4E simply to get a wide shoe as to help with my foot issues and these are so narrow and about 2 inches too long! Doesn’t fit to size. Lesson learned, always to to a local shoe store and try them on first. Edit, these haven’t been wore much at all and ran in none and already the mesh has torn on one side. The shoes are comfortable. It has a high foot drop from toe to heel. The heel is very elevated. I was getting pain in my left heel with my previous shoes - and I haven't experienced that yet with these shoes. I'm using a New Balance casual memory top insole, which has hard plastic on the heel. My size is pretty odd 11.5 2e, which is the wide version. The laces did come undone once during a run - you may need to double-knot. The heel is a little loose. You can use a racer's loop knot to compensate, but not with the stock laces because they're too short. They felt more stable than my last shoes. I felt a bit less knee pain, and no ankle pain. ... show more

    • If you have wide feet and struggle to find shoes wide enough, these wont work even in 4E

I really wanted to give these more than 3 stars, for those who do not have wide feet I am sure this is an outstanding shoe! However Brooks suffers from the same issue that other brands do, their Extra Wide 4E size is not wide enough in the mid foot area. The toe box/front foot area has plenty of room in these when you order the 4E Extra wide, maybe even a little too much. But it's like Brooks forgot to make the mid foot area wider/wide enough for those who need Extra Wide shoes for the mid foot. I can feel the sole dig in just a little and the stitching seem that runs down the side and meets the sole push in some. Because it's not wide enough and squeezes my foot too much. Its not a defective shoe either, as I have ordered another pair to compare. As again I really did want to like these and my foot DR also advised them. But the mid foot area needs to be a little wider for me! ... show more

I have difficult to fit, very wide 4E feet. First time Brooks buyer. I contacted a Brooks advisor prior to purchasing them, he assured me this would fit the same as my current brand. The toe box is wide enough, but not overly generous, could be slightly wider. The body tapers to a very form-fitting heel. Once you get them on they are a perfect fit here, but I seriously need a shoehorn, instead of pinching my fingers off getting my heels into them. It's that snug. The walk is great and encourages significantly more toe roll than most shoes. It takes a few days to adjust your stride but helps you achieve better walking form. Standing and moving about are fine. A friend told me 'get them, they are the best'. Would I buy again? Absolutely. Quality and they actually fit and feel right. ... show more

I gave issues a good couple of weeks before writing this review. They are a little snug but exactly your foot size. You probably will have to wear thin socks with them. I walk on cement floors all night long averaging 67 miles every night, so my feet take a pounding and usually hurt. After two weeks of constant use, these shoes seem to be holding up well with a lot less foot pain. ... show more
