  • Comfortable! BUT... the Front Collapses with each step. :(
Size: 14 Color: Grey/Black
Well... I really wanted to love these shoes. I was especially thrilled that Brooks finally released the white ones in Men’s! Yay! But, while they are comfortable they have one major flaw... This weird thing happens where the front collapses in on the shoe. Every time you step and your toes roll forward the front collapses in with a weird popping sound, as if it gives way and folds. Now if you’re thinking it might be the size is too large. I bought 2 pairs! I bought 13XW which fits perfect and my normal 14’s. In both pairs it does it! (See pics) I’ve never seen this before in shoes unless they were too big, and I’ve never seen it at all in previous generations of GTS... (I even use an old pair of GTS 18’s to cut the grass) but now with the popping feeling so evident as it collapses with each step, I’m left scratching my head. These are very comfortable and I really wanted to like them, but sadly they will be going back to be returned. :( ... show more

  • Toe rubbing
Size: 12 Color: Jet Stream
I loved the Gts 20s. The toe box/upper on the 21s collapses and rubs against your toes. I have tried multiple pairs of 21s and they all do this. Will be sticking with the 20s.

  • Not a Go To Shoe (GTS) this year
Size: 11 Color: Black/Nightlife
I have been wearing the GTS series for 10 years and go through 2 pairs each year. Unfortunately I will be skipping the 21’s for a few key reasons. 1st I too am having the side collapse issue others have posted photos about. 2nd the toung is shaped differently. Instead of a U shape that make it comfortable around the ankle, it comes to a point in the middle of the tung and rubs against your leg. Last is the most important part. It feels like they have raised the height of the heel and also made it so the toe rolls forward. I practice “good form running” and land on the center ball of my foot. These will not not work for that running form. They want you to pronate and heel strike. If you land on your heel and roll forward they would probably be great. Unfortunately these are not my Go To Shoe this year. Please bring back the 2018 or even the 2019 and I will be happy. At least I can still buy the GTS 20’s even if they do break down at 300 miles. ... show more

  • Quite a disappointment
Size: 9 Color: Black/Nightlife
I always use the adrenaline GTS 20, basically the most perfect shoe ever. The GTS21 in the toes they collapse as well as they rub on the sides of your toes, no matter how tight or loose you wear your shoe. I even tried wearing two pairs of socks so whatever they have done to the footbed doesn't work, which forced me to buy five pairs of GTS 20 just to give me through a couple years. I hope they bring back the original design because the 21 should be recalled. ... show more

  • Best running show for my issues by far
Size: 12 Color: Grey/Black
This is my first pair of Brooks shoes. I have issues with achilles tendonitis and past issues with plantar fasciitis. I sometimes need a wide shoe but these fit great without needing wide. These are the most comfortable running shoes I have owned in a long time. Update after 2 months: seem inside of shoe near the toes began to separate and became annoying. I emailed Brooks and after sending them a photo of the damage, they quickly sent me a replacement pair. Lets see how these hold up. ... show more

  • Not as Good as Expected
Size: 10.5 Color: Black/Nightlife
I have normal arches. I've had these for about a month and have put enough K's on them to write a review. This shoe is good but I expected more for the money. The upper, especially, is of lesser quality. Material feels more "plasticy" than my Ghost shoes. Also, the rails in the upper do not quite go to the toe, which creates a "pinch" effect. Again - maybe nit-picky but for what I paid I expect perfection. The bottoms I have no issue with. They seem to be of the same strong rubber Brooks is known for and the cushion is good. I imagine previous incarnations of this shoe are better. I can't compare them. The only Brooks show I can compare these with is the Ghost 12 and 13. Both of which are better than this shoe. Upper materials are higher quality and feel like actual cloth. ... show more

  • New upper hits ankle
Size: 11 X-Wide Color: Grey/Black
I used to hate the adrenaline because it was too soft in the mid/out sole for serious running, but now it is the only shoe I can wear since I developed plantar fasciitis (heel spur). A few years ago, however all Brooks started using a ridiculous new padded ankle collar. It digs into your Achilles tendon and ankles and is so soft that, within a month, it gets shredded making it look like the dog chewed it up (built in expiration date?) With the 21 model they have been tinkering with the collar, making it a bit thinner and reinforcing it a bit. I applaud this attempt, but unfortunately, it is useless because now the front of the collar comes up too high and hits your outside ankle. This, of course makes the shoe extremely painful to wear because of the ankle rub. Also, there is still the problem with the back of the heel being straight with no Achilles notch. You will need to develop a blister and then callous here to use the shoe. On the plus side- For heel spur pain this is the most comfortable model I have tried. (but is only useful if you stand in one place because of the high collar). Also, these are true 4E with plenty of room. For this reason I gave it an extra star. TOO SUM UP: WOULD BE GREAT PLANTAR FACSIITS/WALKING SHOE IF THE ANKEL COLLAR IS FIXED IN THE FUTURE. ... show more

  • Not the same fit as older models.
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Grey/Black
So, for all you folks who answered my question about the sizing of this shoe. You are all wrong. This shoe is not the same sizing as the GTS 19's. This shoe is narrower, way narrower. I had to get a 2E width and a half size larger than my 19's, to fit somewhat comfortably. I posted a side by side picture of my GTS 19's and some GTS 21's. The light grey shoe is the GTS 19. The GTS 19 is a standard width (D) shoe. The black GTS 21's are a wide (2E) width shoe. Both are the 10's. I am returning the GTS 21's fortunately I bought the 10.5 as well and will be wearing those but will also be looking for a new shoe brand as Brooks seems to have gone the way of many shoe manufacturers. I am not sure why shoes are made so narrow. I am sure American and European feet are just wider in general and why shoe manufactures are not making wider shoes as the norm is beyond me. So if you have a narrow foot then Brooks GTS shoes may be for you. I have been getting Brooks for over 7 years now and am disappointed they changed their sizing. It was a shoe I could count on to fight the way a shoe should fit. Not any longer. ... show more
