I have been a waitress for over 30 years. When I started to have back problems, finding an excellent shoe for work wasn’t easy. The older you get, the more you are willing to spend. After my first spinal surgery, I had to get serious with the shoes. When I discovered these on Amazon, I was over the moon. The shoes you need to perform a job like mine need to be 1. Slip resistant 2. Solid black if you work at a higher level 3. Comfortable, it’s hard to tell when just trying on 4. Arch support, but hard to find with all the above requirements 5. Can handle wear and tear. 6. I’m not going to say washable, because I wipe mine with a wet cloth when needed. I am female, so I had to buy a men’s 2 sizes smaller. The fit was perfect. I wore them to work the day they arrived. OMGosh. I was floating around the restaurant. These shoes are so comfortable and do not need to be broken in. I was very worried about how slip resistant they would be, these shoes are not made for servers. I didn’t have one slip. My coworkers started asking me (that same night) about my shoes. When I told them they were Brooks they didn’t believe me or thought I had lost my mind. Any server with a bad back has tried to find solid black Brooks that were slip resistant and not $200. Wish I could give them 10 stars. Good bye Sketchers hello Brooks. I’m never going back.

Read a positive online review rating of this Brooks walking shoe. So far it fits well, feels very comfortable, and ‘walks’ even better. Looks to be very well made; material feels high quality. I particularly like the ‘tongue’ control; the best new feature I had never seen before on any other brand.

Got it for a man who's had a few serious surgeries recently. Needs to continue therapy and keep walking but has been experiencing such severe neuropathy that he couldn't get out of the cycle of staying off his feet as much as possible. Put these on and said they were so comfortable he forgot he had them on! He loves the way they look and said they are snug yet supportive. The only downside is that they do not come in half sizes past a certain size, which requires a very snug fit or wearing shoes a half size to a full size too big.

I like them a lot! They are not at all like sneakers or Hokus or the other pair of Brooks that I like too, but are still comfortable. More rugged? A very good shoe for walking. I did not know that pat and leather was still around (no, not that crazy but be forewarned).

Definitely one of the comfiest shoes I’ve worn in a while, it’s mainly a work shoe and since I’m on my feet at least 8-12 hours day, 10k-15k steps a day, it’s definitely nice to have good shoes for such duties. It is a little snug at first but once you break them in it’s worth it, get a size up too if you’re willing to try them.

I have been a Brooks running, workout shoe fan since 1985 when I got my first pair, so when I wanted a walking shoe I settled on this one. I am not disappointed. It is comfortable. However, I do have a couple of nits to pick. First, it is the noisiest pair of shoes I ever have own. They creak constantly. Couple of folks have said "we can hear you coming" or "you'll never sneak up on anyone." Will that go away? Dunno yet. Also, why do they make shoelaces so long? The bows on these are so big it looks like I am wearing Dumbo's ears on my feet. Not really a fashion statement. Looks silly. Will replace them.
