My son loves to look at the animals and I sleep much better knowing his little foot isn’t going to get stuck in the crib and that he’s not going to suffocate if his head is pushed up against the bumper. I waited till 7 months to put my son in his crib because he slept better near us in his bedside bassinet but he's starting to get mobile and that is no longer an option. The first thing he did in his crib was stick a leg between the slats and get upset about it so this was a must have item. I didn't read all the directions at first so it took me a few tries to get them in place properly but that's on me. Now they are on it's a perfect fit for my full sized crib.     • An Excellent, Safer Option
We just put this Breathable Baby bumper on our crib (the gray chevron print with navy blue trim), though baby-to-be won't actually be here for another couple of months. It does look exactly as it does in the Amazon-provided photos. HOWEVER, one thing that is not super obvious in the pictures, is that the chevron print is ONLY on the inside of the crib bumper; the side facing out is solid gray. I was a teeny bit disappointed in this, although it's not a 'deal breaker' because I understand this is more of a safety item, and won't be used for very long either. I did think it was worth noting in my review though! The bumper comes in two solid pieces, and if you look carefully at the pictures, you can see that it stays put with velcro tabs, by sort of threading through slats and then folding back and sticking to itself. It seemed a bit confusing at first, but the instructions that come in the package are excellent, and provide clear diagrams for various types of cribs - solid back, solid sides, and slats all the way aroun (we have slats on all sides). The breathable mesh fabric does definitely seem like it is truly breathable, and a much safer option for once your child starts to roll - if they were to roll over and get tangled up in the bumper at all, I'd greatly prefer this one over a traditional bumper, and not having one at all makes me a little nervous with the slats. While we do like and recommend this bumper, the one downfall is the way this bumper threads through the corner posts. There is a small pocket created at each corner, because it doesn't fold flush around them (there is no way for it to); instead, it creates a triangle, with the bumper at a diagonal in front of the corner posts, and the 'L' of the posts behind it. From what I understand, most children who begin to roll and explore their crib are generally going to the front or back sides, not the corners. But if our kiddo does ever find his way to that corner, I'll be concerned that he can somehow get tangled up underneath/behind there, and because of this, as SOON as he can sit up or pull himself up even slightly, the bumper will come off. Overall, we think this is the safest bumper option available if you're going to go with one, and we also think it appears well-made and attractive, so we recommend it. We'll have to see how it holds up once baby is here, so I will come back and review this in several months. ... show more

One of the granddaughters is obsessed with putting her legs through the crib slat spaces and getting her foot stuck. When the kids were growing up, we had a thick bumper that went around to prevent that, but we know now that's probably not a great idea :-). This is a perfect balance to solving the problem, though. It is very breathable so there is lesser risk of a problem, is super simple to install, and so far she hasn't been able to uninstall it. She occasionally pushes a section down, but she hasn't put her foot through the slats since this has been installed. Great, simple solution. The best kind. ... show more
