Wow. Where to start? I have ordered a couple of things from Brazos and LOVED them. So I was very excited to find that you can buy these products on Amazon. That should have been my first clue, but ... okay. I went ahead and ordered this. It arrived and let's just say I'm not impressed! It is VERY thin. I used it to help me get up from the chair I was sitting in and it started to bow right then and there. I'm an older woman, but I think I could easily snap this thing in half if I wanted to. Not sure how this is supposed to support me while walking. I had to laugh as I read the Brazos tag. The person who made my cane has had *5 whole years* experience "crafting" these canes. I'm giving it one star because it's pretty. It's too much trouble returning this, so I guess I'm stuck with it. I bought an adjustable metal cane from Drive Medical to keep in the car, but that cane is far superior in quality and weight to this thing. So I guess I'll keep this one in the car instead. Who knows? It might come in handy in case I should see a half dead pigeon on the side of the road and have to beat it all the way dead. Don't buy this product! Edit: I have since bought one of these directly from Brazos. Wow! What a difference!! I LOVE that thing! It's unique and pretty darned awesome. Plus, Brazos lets you customize their canes all different ways AND they happily shorten them for you, including leveling the bottoms of natural, bumpy sticks like this one would be. My advice is to skip Amazon/third party sellers and go directly to the source for a Brazos cane. You won't be sorry! ... show more

I have several Brazos products and this one was disappointing when I unwrapped it. I thought about just sending it back. The grip was well attached but poorly finished. Unsightly gaps fore and aft at the grip/shaft union. They were uncomfortable on the fingers in use as well. I decided to go ahead and fix the cane myself as it was a nice piece of wood. Sanded out the gaps and smoothed the grip/shaft union all around. Stripped the factory finish from the entire cane and I'm now in the process of applying daily coats of tung oil to the cane. Looks very nice, feels very nice. Brazos is a good company and I'm sure they would have replaced this cane for me had I asked. Even though this particular example was less than satisfactory I would not hesitate to buy their products again and will undoubtedly do so. I'm a picky fellow and I enjoy woodcraft thus the path I took here. I won't slam Brazos as I did not give them the opportunity to resolve my dissatisfaction and my experience with them in the past assures me they would have unhesitating done so. My husband recently started using a cane. I wanted something unique and not the Walmart cane you see everywhere. The cane is so pretty and sturdy. I ordered the 37" and cut to size. My husband loves it. But the handle which is wood was hard on his hand since there is no padding. So I came up with my own padding. I think it looks great and very comfortable for him now. The Brazos 37 inch hickory cane is a very sturdy, beautiful cane for those that need one. The hickory has a little heft and is a good choice for a medium to heavy individual. A small or weaker user may want to go with a lighter wood cane made by Brazos. I require a cane for mobility, and I own different kinds for different uses (formal, gym, etc..). I wanted one that was more rugged for casual, outdoor use, and this fits the bill. It is very attractive but also tough, and it comes with a lifetime warranty. The handle of the first cane I received became loose after a few days use, so I emailed Brazos about the problem. The handle and the stick are 2 separate pieces that are joined in production, and I guess mine had a flaw. Customer service apologized for the problem and quickly sent me a replacement. They had even cut the replacement to my specifications. It is very refreshing dealing with a company that stands by its product. ... show more
