First of all, this is the same coffee table as the Steve Silver - Sherlock Lift Top, except the Bowery Hill is about $30 less (go figure). Now about the color, yes it is a mixture of dark brown and black (TOBACCO, says it in the ad). The reviews for the Steve Silver table talk about the color combination/confusion more. The pics in the Bowery Hill and Steve Silver ads make the table look gray but it isn't and I knew this BEFORE my purchase. Check out my pics. It's a very solid table that looks great next to my dark furniture set (maybe a light set too? I'm a guy, what do I know about style) Anyway, I couldn't be happier with this coffee table. Yes, it's heavy; around 100 lbs but it's NOT difficult to assemble. Took me less than an hour to unpack and put together. Comes with 4 casters, 2 that are lockable; rolls on my carpet easily. In one of the reviews in the Steve Silver ad, a person complained that it didn't roll well and scratched their wood floor. I bet one, if not both of the lockable casters were locked (just saying). I highly recommend! Would buy again!

Very heavy and very sturdy! I understand some people thought this was a grey table based on some photos. It is a very dark wood, very industrial/rustic looking. It is perfect! The up/down mechanism is quiet and feels substantial. The table rolls easily on the casters. It arrived well packaged in a huge box. It was actually easier to put together than it was to get it unpackaged! There was a lot of styrofoam, which I am not wild about, but at least the table arrived damage free. I'd say it took about 45 minutes to assemble once it was all unpackaged. They give you a little allen wrench but you will be much happier if you use a screwdriver with an allen end, or at least a slightly bigger allen wrench. I am super happy with this purchase.

We LOVE this table. I had so many concerns when I ordered it, like, would the wheels work, would it be too heavy, would it look slapdash. I should not have worried. We have a small livingroom and were excited about the wheels so we could move it out of the way to get in and out of the sofa. The wheels work perfectly. They are not just there for decoration. The table itself is much sturdier than I even considered. It has the perfect industrial/barnwood look that matches our house to a T. When we did have a small issue with shipping, the company was super responsive and did everything they could to rectify the situation. We searched quite a while for this table and I’m very glad we decided to pick this one. I smile when I walk by it.

It's a nice table. It said black when I bought it. Other people expressed that it was brown but they also said they got "espresso" but apparently they only have one color.

Love love LOVE this coffee table! It’s sturdy, it rolls, its top lifts up so you can use it for having a snack or writing a letter. It’s very pretty. I love everything about it. Also fairly easy to assemble!

This product is “very brown” and not gray as shown in the picture. When we tried to return, the shipping was almost as much as the product cost. Don’t waste your time!
