  • A Refreshing Take on a Beloved Series
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Super Deluxe Edition
As a longtime Borderlands fan, this game is a breath of fresh air. Somehow, this game manages to feel new and brings a lot to the table that hasn't been seen before. The combat is fun and challenging, the movement is dynamic and responsive, the world that Gearbox has created is absolutely gorgeous. I was skeptical of the transition to the open world format at first, but it makes the exploration so much more enjoyable. The world is packed full of things to discover and do, and the side quests are as good as ever. If I had just one complaint, it would be that the UI is a little clunk on controller. But given that console users don't seem to be having the same performance issues that PC users are, I'll take that any day. I thoroughly recommend this game to any fans of the franchise, and even if you're new, I think this game has a lot to offer. Maybe you'll even find yourself enjoying the story! ... show more

  • Fun game
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Super Deluxe Edition
Not a full time player but I have played all the borderlands games. They are all excellent and repayable. This one did crash early on but so have 2 other borderlands games I own. It's a different layout and takes some time to get used to but it's fun to play. Bosses take longer without the right gear but still a good game. If you get motion sickness this game can cause it after an hour of playing. ... show more

  • Mid at best
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Super Deluxe Edition
It’s Borderlands but not in a good way. It’s one step forwards and two steps back. It reminds me of the first Borderlands with the horrible hud and navigation bar instead of an actual map. It’s easy to get lost and there’s really not any driven content other than the main questline. Side quests are eh at best and after doing a couple of them, you really just want to keep going with the main storyline and avoid the mediocre side quests that doesn’t warrant the loot that it takes to do the quest. It feels like a waste of time. The echo 4 will drive you right through the middle of enemies dismounting you and putting you in a fight when you’re just trying to get some place. It’s annoying at best. You have to take over little places and make them home so you can fast travel. There are some that sit very close together and feel like a waste in trying to obtain them. There are tough characters that show up in a bubble randomly on a map and if you step out of that bubble, they’ll disappear. You feel like a rat trapped in a little cage with a tough opponent and then thirty adds on top of it to burn you to the ground while trying to stave off the boss in the tiny area given to fight. You know, typical Borderlands style except add the tiny area bubble and make it worse. I’m at level 22. I have no excitement for the game. I could care less if I play it again or not. It’s not engaging. It’s boring. It’s just not fun. The controls are good. The guns are plentiful but when you pick up guns and open your backpack you’re left guessing if it’s better than what you have. The card comes up huge so you can’t see the other guns. I shouldn’t have to “filter” to look at guns. It’s horrible. And then there’s this little reticle that is ALWAYS in the way and annoying while in the menus. It’s as if they built this game for PC and then ported it to the consoles and the console players are left to “deal with it”. I hate that reticle with a passion. All of it together is just a mess. The early gaming site reviews gave this game a 9 or 10. This game is a 5 at best. After those reviews came out, then all the stuff about memory leaks, having to restart the game every hour to get it play right. The FOV slider for the ones who are odd. I never even knew these games came with this option and I have no need for one but all of a sudden that’s important. Don’t even attempt to play couch coop with split screen. It’s horrendous. The backpack and menus are near impossible to navigate. Add the huge cards that pop up and that reticle and it’s maddening. But the fov thing is more important. Ungh. If I could get a refund I would. This is hands down the worst Borderlands I’ve come across. ... show more

  • Too much nonsense
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Super Deluxe Edition
Not fun like 1 and 2 . Game play involves too much reading extremely small print. Spend too much time sorting through nonsense. This game is souted more for folks that spend 18 hours a day in front of a screen

  • Not a Borderlands game
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X Edition: Super Deluxe Edition
Only played a few hours so far but this is NOT a "Borderlands" game. All new characters, completely different controller setups, options, etc....not at all what i expected. I have played all the other Borderlands games (1-3) and even Tiny Tina's spinoff and they all had a common look and feel. This one is completely different. I DO think its going to be a fun game, but should have a different name. ... show more
