I wanted this as a way to entertain my baby for 5-10 minutes on a walk, when I’m preparing dinner when she’s fussing, or just when she’s fussing a lot and isn’t engaging with toys in general. This is perfect for that! I’ve filled them with breastmilk. I like that it’s not that messy since I’m use milk. If I wasn’t using breastmilk, I’d fill them up with applesauce, mashed banana, or yogurt, as I’d want something not too colored as it would be messier. The handle is easy for her (she’s 8 months old) to pick up and hold in the right position. A lot of other similar products have a more circular handle, which she isn’t great at picking up. She constantly drops things like this, so if she is able to pick it back up herself correctly, that’s a win. I like that it has holes in it so it’s not too messy when she drops it. I wish I bought this months ago. I am sure she could have been independent with this at six months old at least, or younger with a bit more help. It is a little difficult to get the top to fill on when inserting the frozen food of choice (I am doing breastmilk), so I’d reccomend under filling them a bit. I originally had a Munchkin fresh food feeder. It was more of a mesh bag kind of style. Well I really didn't like that one because once the bag got even a little bit empty, it would start to sag and of course my 1 year old isn't going to have the motor skills to hold the bag straight, she just fussed. So I would have to keep fixing that munchkin feeder for her and it was such a pain. Now this thing, changed the game! It's wonderful because it's designed the exact opposite of the munchkin feeder. The silicone feeding bowl thing stays upright no matter how empty it may get. And it is so much easier to clean and disinfect a piece of silicone than it is to clean a mesh bag made of tiny little holes. It's easier for my baby to hold. It's everything i was looking for. I love that it comes with a lid so that if my baby wants to take a break from what she is eating, i can close it up after she puts it down. I've also noticed that because the design of this Boon feeder is more solid than the mesh bag thing i was using before, I can put even more things in it than just fruit. I have even fed my toddler icecream using this thing and it wasn't even a problem. Even when it got melted, the leaking was only out of the holes designed to be there. The pulp feeders were one of the first items I used to help baby learn to feed herself. When I saw this frozen mold, I was excited. I make frozen fruit pops for her that help a lot now that we're going through another round of teething.
