I’ve had Bodum products for years from French press coffee makers to other storage containers. I wanted to get a new one because I had broken my old one and saw that product had replaced the previous design lid with a cork lid, which I thought - oh that’s nice and environmentally friendly. However, the cork lid is horrible! They used to have a plastic material with a silicone gasket which was perfect and kept it sealed. Now this cork lid dries out over the course of a few weeks and no longer maintains a seal. Therefore, I need to soak this lid in water every few weeks to have it maintain a seal. I have an older version of this jar with a stainless steel/silicone gasket. I've had it for over 10 years and just recently managed to crack the glass in the dishwasher. So even though the borosilicate glass seems thin, with care it is long lasting. I use it daily because I store oatmeal in it. So I ordered this jar with fingers crossed that I could use my stainless steel lid in place of the cork. Happily it is the same size, doubly glad since if I sniff the cork lid it has a slight odor like it absorbed a fragrant dishwashing liquid, ugh! If Bodum were to bring the stainless steel lid back, I would buy a couple more! ... show more

Tricky getting the cork lid on square but it doesn’t seem to matter. In my photo you can see an older Bodum canister with plastic lid and silicon seal I still use for coffee. New ones are for Splenda and Oat bran both have stayed dry and fresh for weeks on my countertop.

I need these to store coffee beans. Looking at many questions/answers ("maybee, not quite, no") as to whether 32 ounce liquid measure containers would hold 12 ounces of beans (normal sized bag) I found this product. Since Bodum is known for coffee makers and related products they make them 34 ounces instead of 32. It does hold the 12 ounce bag and the cork lids are attractive and very tight. ... show more

I read some reviews complaining about the fit of the cork top. Mine fits perfectly. These Bodum jars are very high quality. Sturdy glass. I got the 30oz size, just about right for a lb of ground coffee.

The glass seems fail and the effort it takes to push the cork lid on makes me nervous that I’m going to break it. I use it for coffee. I had a Bodum jar for coffee before with a metal lid. It was awesome and lasted 5 years until I dropped it on a wood floor. Wish they still made that version.

Got a set in different sizes, looks so lovely minimalist on my stainless steel counters. The cork helps soften the metal. The bodum logo is only on side so you can face it back - sorry bodum - it just looks sleeker that way.
