  • An easy to assemble and install access assist that may save you a trip to the ER
This device is a pretty serious piece of iron (steel actually), and it is extremely well built. It has received a quality powder coated finish that should help it survive in its intended environment. Fortunately the design doesn't create any closed spaces for water to get trapped, so in use this should also help it last. The steps come about 90% assembled, you're just left to attach the handrail and anchor the assembly to your trailer tongue. Other than that you'll have to cut a couple pieces of safety tap from the supplied roll and stick them across each of the three steps. That's it, you're all done. The steps are designed to remain in place at all times, so other than maybe giving it all a hosing off after using it in salt water, there's no other maintenance to be done. Functionally having a safe way to get on and off of the craft while it's still on the trailer is a tremendous help. Not only when still on land, but also handy to be able to load a passenger as you begin to launch. I have several clear recollections of witnessing people at the boat launch, and in the parking lot, attempt to take a big step down off of their boat after climbing in for some reason, meaning to step onto the trailer tongue and either missing it completely or simply slipping off. The injuries that followed range from extremely painful (rolled ankle and a big knot on their head) to pretty gruesome (gash in their leg that required stitches). This type of device will go a long way to eliminating those sorts of unfortunate events. A day out on the boat should be a relaxing way to unwind, not a precursor to an ER visit. I'm of a certain age where I no longer trust myself to jump into or out of boats and truck beds, so I'm not above dragging out a step ladder to fill the bill, so this at least is one less reason to do so. I'm kinda wishing the manufacturer would build something similar that I could attach to my truck's receiver hitch that works the same way. I;m not familiar with any other devices that provide this type of safe access assistance, so it's a little tough to evaluate the product;'s value, but I will say that compared to getting six stitches in a leg I'd consider it an absolute bargain. ... show more

  • no more having to get the ladder for me
This is exactly what I was looking for. I have a small-ish boat that I keep on the trailer when not in use. Every time I had to get in the boat to work on it (which happens a lot in the spring), I had to get the ladder - and put the ladder away. Every. Single. Time. Not anymore. It solved that problem for me. It took maybe 15ish minutes to assemble. It comes with some 'wrenches' but they are totally useless for assembly. Use real wrenches so you can torque the nuts down proper. Here is one thing that stuck out and I really with more companies did this: The kit has an extra set of nuts/bolts for each size in the kit. Oh my gosh. They actually realize that when you are working outside on something like this, you can drop things. Yeah. That. It happens. The welds are strong. The tape that comes with it is textured with like sand or something so it makes the steps much less slippery when its wet. Oh yeah, without the tape, you will slip on the steps. Use the tape. The steps are rated for 500lbs. I am not sure if that is the case or not but it will move a touch as you climb to the top step. Its just physics. This is like a 3 foot tall ladder held at the bottom. I am not sure the force a 250lb person exerts on the top step, but remember that. ... show more

  • Really much easier to get in our 21.5 open bow boat. 100 x easier to get up and in boat.
These trailer steps were one of those upgrades I didn’t think would make a huge difference… but man they really do. Getting in and out of the boat on the trailer used to be kinda awkward, especially early mornings at the ramp or when everything is wet and slippery. After putting this on, it just makes the whole process way easier and safer. Install wasn’t bad at all. Took a little bit of adjusting to get it sitting just right on the trailer tongue, but nothing complicated. Once it’s tightened down it feels really solid. The handle is actually super helpful too, gives you something sturdy to grab when climbing up or stepping down, which is nice when your hands are full of gear. The steps themselves are wide enough to feel comfortable and the non-slip pads do their job. Even with wet boots I haven’t had any sketchy moments. It’s rated for 500 lbs and honestly it feels like it could handle a lot of abuse, pretty heavy duty steel construction and doesn’t flex around like cheaper stuff. Fit was good on my trailer and from what I can tell it should work on most bass boat or deep V setups. Overall just a really practical upgrade that makes launch day smoother and a lot less awkward. One of those simple things you end up appreciating every single time you use it. Really a must have - not sure how I got along without one over the years. ... show more

  • Great Product
This is perfect for my needs and the steps with the tape on them make it so easy to get up and down I don't recommend curing anything up or down it because it is quality and has plenty of sturdiness. Honestly I think it's a great value for your money because how long they can last

  • Review of Boat Trailer Steps with Handle
Added these trailer steps to my bass boat trailer about a week ago to make launching and loading easier at the ramp. The bracket fit the trailer tongue well and the bolt on setup made installation straightforward with basic tools. Climbing up to reach the bow now feels much safer, and the anti slip tape provides solid grip even when the steps are wet. Over the past week of early morning launches, the steel frame has felt very sturdy with no flex while stepping up. The powder coated finish looks clean on the trailer, and the strong build and secure fit make it feel like a practical upgrade. ... show more
