I installed this on my jon boat to replace an old, wobbly seat base, and the difference is night and day. This thing is built solid—nice thick aluminum that feels like it can take a beating without flinching. The 7"x7" base gives it a super stable footprint, and once the seat post locks into the 3/4" socket, it holds tight with no play or rattling, even when the water gets choppy. Mounting it was pretty straightforward. The pre-drilled holes lined up easily, and I just used stainless steel hardware to make sure everything stays corrosion-resistant. Once installed, it gave the whole seating setup a more professional, finished feel. Whether you're casting all day or just cruising, you really want your seat to feel secure, and this definitely delivers on that front. It's one of those upgrades that's easy to overlook until you actually make it. After a few hours out on the water, you really appreciate how stable and comfortable it makes things. Normally I want stainless but when your working in an aluminum boat you want to use as much aluminum as possible to limit corrosion, especially in saltwater environments. These are light and strong and work great. I will be buying at least 2 more of them for my boat build.
