In order to protect the top my new washer and dryer, I decided to buy this butcher block and use it on top of my appliances. Great wood quality as it was easy to stain and seal. Added rubber padding under it when I installed it on top of washer/dryer. Looks fantastic and yes I know its overkill but they are now protected from dents..... ... show more

When I received my 2 boards they were the larger 300$ ones can't remember the size exactly. Both arrived with dings and dents on the sides and one had a split right down the middle. Me being dumb I thought I could fix it and should have just returned it for a refund. Now I have a bar that has a massive blemish that everyone can see. Very disappointing and would never buy again. I finished it with water based polyurethane, 3 coats. It needed the 3rd coat to hide the foam brush marks, and it came out very nice. They do package it carefully, but they should really protect the sides more. Mine got dinged in 2 spots. They have good corner and face protection, but my dings happened where the corner pieces stopped (about 18 inches or so from the corners). Shipper's fault, but you have to expect rough handling from any shipper. Since my workbench is against the wall, those dings won't show. But it could have been an expensive return for them. They had an email address that came with the product, it was a fishy sounding email address, but I went ahead and emailed them a question. About 3 days later came a canned response that didn't even attempt to answer my question. So I gave them another chance, and the reply was just as bad and totally ignored my question. They lost 2 stars for their horrible customer service. ... show more

I purchased this to make a kitchen island out of an old desk. The item was very well packaged. After two coats of stain and placing it on top of the desk I think it worked out. I would highly recommend this purchase.
