  • Not bad for the price
I like this as a small back-up phone. But there really wasn't much in the way of instructions that come with this device. You get a small three-panel Quick Start Guide - but IMO it doesn't give you as much information as you might need. For example, you have to install the battery, sim card, and a micro-SD memory card (optional) - but the Quick Start Guide doesn't tell you how to get the back off the phone to do that. I was a bit hesitant to start just prying at the back, for all I knew the back had to slide off. I eventually figured it out by some trial-and-error (luckily I didn't damage the plastic back). You need to start at the top of the phone and pry the back a bit off, and then go along the sides to pop the small plastic clips. Once you get the back off it's easy to see what needs to be done. The only reason for my four-stars is that the instructions didn't cover this, otherwise I would have given the phone five-stars. The phone is pretty basic as you might expect. One of the reasons I picked this model to buy was that it could also play music. I put in a 16GB mirco-SD card that I had loaded up with music (MP3s). The phone didn't see any of the music. Removing the card and using my computer I reorganized the files. I had just dropped a bunch of folders (albums) on the card. Apparently you need to put the MP3 files in a folder that the phone creates titled 'My Music'. Once I did that the phone was able to see the music. You can just hook the phone up to the computer via the USB cable - but I pulled the card and did that directly. You can make playlists with the phone. The sound quality is pretty decent, much better than most MP3 players costing about the same as this phone did. I also like that this phone has a built-in FM radio feature, I still like to listen to the local terrestrial radio stations. Scanning and setting stations is very easy to do. I'm probably going to use this phone more as an audio device than as a phone. I'm very happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • Good for the price, but definitely not trouble-free
It is what it is: an $18 phone. Calls and texting do work, battery life is good. In more detail: - The battery lasts for about a month (I've only charged it twice as of now) if you don't use it much. However, it died kind of unexpectedly after showing 75-100% battery level most of the time. Oh well. The fact that this phone charges via regular micro USB makes it easy to use with my portable power bank which I always carry anyway. - Multimedia functions are there, but who would use them in a phone like this? Without a memory card it can literally store only one 160x120pxphoto. - The radio works OK with no headphones, which is somewhat amazing and might actually be useful. Like when you're travelling by bicycle and see a sign like "Tune to 100.0 FM for info on fog and vicious zombies ahead". You might have some better uses for it, though. - The phone doesn't seem to be able to import contacts which are not stored on a SIM card. Connecting to PC doesn't help with that either. Now this is actually a shortcoming even for the simplest device IMO. - Lack of a good manual makes it hard to learn doing even the simplest of things like locking keypad. - The phone only supports English, Spanish and Portuguese. It was an unpleasant surprise to see incoming Russian (300 million speakers anyone?) SMS as a bunch of squares. Well yeah, it's my fault, I should've looked at reviews first. But then again is it that hard to make the phone support Unicode? - Finally, the design is actually nice enough for everyday use. All-in-all I would recommend this as the cheap phone-to-go for any North/South American user ... show more

  • easy to use simple cell phone
Bought to use with Qlink Free Government phone plan. As a basic make and answer phone calls...it is GREAT! even for the occassional text messages, it's workable. Just keep in mind that this is NOT a daTA PHONE. ZERO. NO APPS, ETC. THE CAMERA is horrible and the phone holds about 5 pictures. You can add a MicroSD only up to 16GB. While it is supoosed to be dual SIM...it is really hard just to get ONE SIM CARD to load into the tray and have it be recognized. it requires that the SIM CARD be placed in the LARGEST SIZE SIM adapter which means first fitting it into the mid size adapter and then those two combined into the largest adapter AND THEN you have totry and hold it super straight and steady as you place it on a flimsy slide out tray and carefully slide it into a hidden pocket. I am good with Cell phones and this took me over an hour to get the phone to finally see that it had a sim card in it. ... show more

  • Nice Dumbphone with cool music features
This phone is really cool. The back cover was easy to take off. It charged in about 6 hours. I put a MetroPcs sim in the bottom metal tray and somehow it managed to stick in there and is impossible to get out. Then I went to Tmobile and got the 25 dollar talk/text plan. I put that sim card in the top tray. Then when I went to make calls it would ask me if I wanted to call from Sim 1 or Sim 2. To avoid having to make the choice every time I was able to go into settings and deactivate Sim 1. I loaded some mp3 music on there and it sounds great on my afternoon run. It only took a 16 gig card. 32 gig wouldn't accept. Call quality through the headset is ok. My boss called me and it sounded like she fell down a well. It kinda diffused the "importance" of the call and made her sound kind of comical. The fm radio is killer and I have been listening to classical for a couple hours with no drop on the battery. There is a small learning curve on navigating the phones menus. I am happy with the phone and so far it is 17 bucks well spent. Nice dumbphone for those who are looking to take a break from a smartphone Pros Battery Life, mp3 player, FM radio, car game, ok camera, nice screen, snazzy look(retro), cheap, headphone jack works great Cons working through the menus can be tedious but once you get the hang of it its easy, dubious call quality ... show more
