  • Durable, Fun, Safe and Wet!
The media could not be loaded. I was a bit worried when I saw the shipping weight was 67 lbs. I hoped that I would be able to lift and set it up myself. I knew my husband would be able to do it, but since he's not at home with us during the day, I needed to be able to do it. The box was pretty heavy when it came, but after unpacking, I realized I could haul it. It consisted of a nice carrying case, the inflatable shark slide, and the blower. There were also stakes, and instruction manual, and patches for repair if needed. Because the slide was in a carrying case, I was able to carry it out of my home and put it in the back yard with no problem. The blower hooks up to an inflatable tube that goes to the slide. Once I had the blower plugged in, I simply had to follow the instructions to get it up and going. It honestly took about 15 minutes from start to finish, which I was grateful for. Blowup time was also just over a minute, which is impressive considering how large this slide is. We have a small yard as we live in a townhome and I was pleasantly surprised to see it fit in our yard quite nicely. Once it was blown up, I had to stake down the blower and the slide. There are 8 stakes in all and it's nice and necessary that they are included. The fun thing about this slide is that you can use it dry or wet. My two boys had fun bouncing down it while it was dry, but it got to be even more fun when we turned on the sprayers. The sprayer is a long tube that connects to your hose, It is then velcroed underneath the shark's teeth and sprays down on the slide. The velcro is very strong and holds on well even though it gets wet. You also don't need a lot of power from the hose to get the sprayers going. This slide is also very durable. We've had 7 kids playing on it at once, might I add that they were all rough and tumble boys. It is extremely durable and held up well to all of them. The weight limit is 200 lbs, which means that adults can get on and play too. I'm about 145 lbs and have gone down the slide multiple times, it's actually quite fun. I've seen bubbles coming up from the seam at the bottom of the slide when the water is going, but everything I've read says it's normal. Since you have the blower on the entire time while your kids are playing, water has to seep out a bit somewhere. It's not a problem, but may seem alarming to those who don't know that it's normal. The pool at the bottom of the slide is also really fun. As the sprayers spray, the pool fills up at the bottom making for a great splash at the bottom. You can also use balls in the bottom if you want to use it dry. The climbing wall in the back has handles and holes for little feet and it's easy to climb up. My 3 year old has no problem climbing up, and there's a good amount of space at the top of the slide to sit. There is mesh around the back of the slide, I imagine to protect kids from falling which I appreciate as a parent. When you are all done playing, you simply have to turn the blower off and deflate. If you've used the water features, you need it completely dry before you put it back in the bag. This is a bit of a pain as it takes some time to dry out. We put it back into the bag when it wasn't quite dry, and there was water seeping out everywhere. Also - pay attention to how it is folded when you take it out for the first time. It explains a bit in the manual how to fold it back up, but the first few times we folded it back up, it felt like it was going to be impossible to get it back into the bag. After a few times of putting it back, it fits nicely in the carrying case. Although the carrying case is a small addition, it is so so nice to have. It helps you to carry the slide, and store it when not in use. Overall, this has provided hours and hours of fun so far and I'm excited to continue using it throughout the summer. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun themed inflatable slide! ... show more

  • Saved my summer!
I live in Houston and do not have a pool. I have a newborn so can't take my 4 and 6 year olds out as often. So I got this to entertain the kids at home. I'm soooooo glad I bought this slide by Blast Zone. We have had it for about 10 days and have used it almost everyday and once for a playdate with 10 kids (ages 18mths to 6yrs). The biggest child was 65 lbs. The slide had no problem holding 4 or 5 kids, weighing 35 to 65 lbs, at one time. I've seen the Little Tikes and Banzai waterslides and thought their materials/fabrics to be lighter. This material seems heavy duty and durable by comparison. So far the seams are holding up well. The blower is strong. I've had it on for 3-6 hours at a time. 2-4 hours play time and the rest to dry out the slide. The actual height from which the kids slide is about 6 ft. off the ground. There is a seam at the bottom of the slide that my girls complained was rough and caught their upper thighs and bottoms. I gave them swim shorts instead of bikini bottoms and that helped. The boys didn't notice. The slide becomes slick with a little bit of water. The water hose attaches via strong velcro. My kids were using the hose as a "handle" once up at the top. The velcro cannot hold a child's weight so we discouraged that very quickly. The hose attachment is not a mister, which I would have preferred, instead, it is a shower spray of water. I think that's my only real complaint. You only need to turn the hose on a little to get the desired water effect. (The slide is not very slick for dry use, too much friction.) One observation: After sliding, my kids like to run back up the slide instead of getting out of the slide to climb up the back. They told me they don't like to get out to feel the rough grass and dirt and that it's fun to run up the slide. I noticed that this was a universal inclination for most of the kids who used the slide. (For me that's only a safety concern when there are lots of kids using the slide.) Blast Zone has a crocodile slide that's bigger (and more $) but the kids can climb up the front. But I settled on the this one because the kids can slide side by side and it was less money. The safety netting on the back is a nice feature but you still have to watch that your child is careful not to slip and fall off the back of the slide. A 6 year old playmate did just that and bounced down and out onto the grass. It was a soft bounce...but it may not always be. It takes an hour or two for the slide to dry after you have emptied the water out of the bottom pool area. I've left it out deflated over night, but will not do that again because of the dew, bugs and plant bits that get on the slide. The latter stains the fabric. It'll get dirty on its own, but I don't want to contribute to unnecessary staining that will make it "look" unusable. It's heavy and I haven't tried to put it into the carrying case. I leave it rolled up in an enclosed area of my backyard. I think it will last for a few years. I'm very happy with it. ... show more

  • Love this slide
We've used this 3 times now with no issues. After reading all the reviews, yes this is hard to get into the bag it comes in, but I've been able to do it every time with some minor assistance by my 7yr old. I bought it for my 6 and 7 yr old to have something to do in their back yard this summer. The stakes are plastic and the first one broke as i was hammering it into place, when I went to put it away I found 2 more had bent. We will be replacing them with small metal ones. It is heavy, the bag is probably around 45lbs with out the blower, which is another maybe 15. I take towels and hand dry it after we get most of the water out of it when we're done playing with it, then let it air dry a bit more before putting it away. I bought a small kiddie pool to put at the bottom of the climbing side to have the kids clean their feet before they go on to help keep it cleaner and easier to clean up when done. I have tons of kids living in the cul-da-sac from age 4 to 11 and they all love it except for the not so soft landing. I'm looking into investing in a blow up mat to put under it. (The kind you buy for lounging in the pool). I do my best to control how many kids are on it at one time because I want this to last a few summers, but kids do get over excited and climb up at the same time, but the blower has never shown it couldn't handle it. We have now had this slide for 10 years. Best investment I’ve had up to 10 kids on at a time. Patches have. Happened but it’s still in great shape. Just make sure you LET IT DRY every time before you put it away. And don’t leave it out all summer. Ours was only ever out a few days at a time. Can’t wait for summer number 11 with this ... show more
