This is absolutely a must have if you use the color page in DaVinci Resolve. I’ve only had a little while and I love it. Very intuitive and fun to use. Instead of hunting on screen for buttons to press, just use the color panel. I see a lot of people saying that the build quality could be better, but it was designed for ease of use and portability. Using aluminum would have definitely upped the weight and made it not very fun to carry around.

I cannot recommend this enough!! Is a game changer for my color grading skills. I felt that I am not prepared for the industry big league 😀 I have seen improvement on my work given that i it helps me to cut corner (it a good and ethical way) or I should say that it helps me to maximize my time as much as possible I no longer spend to much time on a single take, as least not like before. The time I'm saving I have been able to utilize it in other areas which has allow me to improve the outcome of my work.

Not worth it. Doesn't unlock any hidden functionality. Doesn't really improve workflow. You have to learn an entire new ecosystem and hotkeys. The balls are fun to play with... pause... the overall tactile feel leaves much to be desired however. The precision provided by the balls is nice but not really game changing. The buttons just feel like a regular keyboard and don't give the click or snap that I was hoping for; kinda underwhelming in terms of feel and overwhelming in terms of having to learn and setup the layout. It was easy to connect to my computer and to Davinci Resolve. I returned this product because it wasn't the game changer I was hoping for.

My main complaint is that the build quality feels a bit cheap. Just a tiny bit cheap. It's not going to fall apart on you, but it doesn't feel as 'solid' as, e.g., BMD's cameras. It isn't actually cheap build quality... but it kind of feels like it. It might be that some parts of it are made of plastic instead of aluminum/polycarbonate like many of BMD's other products. My other complaint is that you can't reprogram certain knobs and buttons to whatever you want; you have to use it the way BMD wants you to. It'd be great if I could program one of the wheels as a jogwheel for the cut or edit page, and some of the buttons for shortcuts, which would save me time. It's basically a paperweight on my desk whenever I'm not in the color page. The positive side is that this has made color grading faster, more intuitive, and fun. I'm able to set the sensitivity of the wheels and knobs in Resolve, so I use the mouse for big, dramatic adjustments, and the panel for fine-tuning the image. When I actually need to use this thing, it's a total game-changer for me. The fact that panel grading is accessible at this price point is fantastic, and I believe it's worth it for that alone. However, you could get a lot more value out of this if BMD would make it easy to reprogram the buttons for different pages within Resolve.
