Honestly can’t say enough good things about this vacuum. I run a dog boarding business out of my home so I am constantly vacuuming. 1-3 times a day. I have always used bissel but this is my first “nicer” quality vacuum as the ones I had before were the cheaper $100 ones. I haven’t vacuumed my stairs in months because it’s such a pain in the butt, but it took me under 5 minutes today using the lift off feature and attachment(s). I love all of the extras is comes with, the led crevas tool is awesome. I used it around my baseboards to get all the hair stuck in the cracks. The headlights are very useful for darker areas as well. I’ve never had a swivel vacuum so that’s taking some getting used to but I really like it so far. It is a little heavier than other vacuums I’ve used but I don’t mind as I can tell it’s working well and doing it’s job. The other thing I really like about it is that I can vacuum my long haired shag rugs without it trying to eat them or stop the brush roll. I’ve had to shake some of them out on a regular basis as our old vacuum would not allow me to go over those rugs. The only thing I would add to this vacuum is a retractable cord. Since i use it so often I find wrapping the cord up to be tedious but that’s just an extra that would be the cherry on top. If you’re contemplating buying this vacuum this is your sign lol you won’t be disappointed. Edit to add: I got it on sale for $189 on black Friday, however, I would pay the $300 for it. ... show more

  • Best Vacuum I've Ever Owned
Color: Blue
Seriously a treasure! I have two Chow Chows with long, coarse hair that was the destroyer of all previous vacuums. I reverted to using a shop vac for years until, well, I got older and didn't want to vacuum on my hands and knees anymore. Pet parents: this vacuum's roller does NOT get tangled with hair... it works, it's life changing!! No bending over every 2 minutes to cut through and peel hair from the roller, and forget those trolls who claim it's so easy to remove the roller and cut through hair... they have never been owned by a Chow Chow!! The suction is fantastic, in fact, I didn't ever realize how little I was actually picking up with my shop vac. The canister is a bit small, but I don't even care, because it's a celebration in our house each time I dump that filth into the trash. Vacuum maneuvers nicely around everything, and fits a good way under my couch. I don't have an enormous house, so it's rather nice that the cord is long enough that I can plug it into the middle room's outlet and reach every corner without moving to another outlet... it's the little things! My only "complaints" are that the vacuum is a bit top heavy, and it tips over on me when I try to use the wand. It's also a bit difficult for me to pick up, but then, I'm no Spring Chicken, so that's acceptable. Pet people, DO NOT hesitate!! ... show more

  • Yes, it actually WORKS with long pet hair!
Color: Blue
After four months of extreme frustration with a Shark Navigator we began searching for a vacuum that would work in our household - two seniors, two Shelties and a Golden Retriever. We came across this Bissel and we believe our problem has actually been solved. The design of the vacuum makes perfect mechanical sense: if you want to vacuum up long hair, make the circumference of the roller longer than the hair you want to pick up. That way, the hair cannot wrap itself completely around the roller and will eventually be knocked off the brushes by suction and other incoming debris. And behold, it actually does work! The very first task after removing it from the box and easy assembly was to vacuum the living room rug. A few minutes later we had a clean rug, a canister full of dirt and dog hair - and not one single hair wrapped around the roller - hooray! With the Shark, I would have had to stop and literally cut the hair off the roller at least once and probably twice. The suction is great and it's nice to have lights. I was in such a hurry to try it out that I neglected to tighten the one single screw you have to install to hold the handle in place - I had put it in by hand but had not tightened it. By the time I was done, the screw had disappeared. Now, I've been around long enough to have become a firm believer in Murphy's Law and all its corollaries. I know that if a piece falls off of something it will immediately hide itself in the very last place you would think to search so, rather than getting down on my hands and knees and feeling over the entire living room for a two inch screw, I went immediately to the trash can, reached into the prodigious lump of dog hair the Bissel had just removed from the carpet, and - voila! - there was the screw. And it stands as a testament that the Bissel could suck up that two inch screw without so much as a hiccup. Just as powerful as the Shark, just as easy to use - if a bit heavier - lights on the head and even the crevice tool, and fully capable of dealing with the long pet hair that is so much a part of the fabric of our existence. So why not five stars? Bissel has succumbed to the same idea as Shark and some others of offering a "power" brush that is driven by suction turning a little squirrel cage turbine in the pet brush attachment and thus offering a "powered" extension brush at a cheaper price. But this is a design fad that doesn't really work very well because it can't produce the torque necessary to keep the brush revolving under any kind of decent resistance. If you really want a powered brush, you need to look for one that advertises a "motorized" brush rather than a "power" brush. If the pet brush was motorized this would absolutely be a five star product - and just the fact that it will deal with long pet hair without even breaking a sweat is darn near enough to get it there. UPDATE: Three and a half months in and I just wanted to confirm my initial findings. The vacuum itself still works great even with our long pet hair, but the "power" pet brush has succumbed to the same problem as the Shark - hairs get in and wrap around the shaft that drives the squirrel cage, quickly causing enough friction to overcome the force of the suction and stop the squirrel cage - and thus the brush - from turning. One slight bit of good news - unlike the Shark, I found that I could disassemble the pet brush far enough to get at the shaft and, with a needle, a pair of tweezers and lots of patience, clear the hair out and get the brush turning again...but it just does it again. We're going to be shopping for a little handheld vacuum with a MOTORIZED brush specifically to do the stairs, since that is the only place this presents a problem. For the rest of the house this vacuum is great. ... show more

  • Great suction! Awesome for cat hair!!
Color: Blue
So, I read a ton of reviews and decided on this model because I have a cat that I love but I hate his fur everywhere. My comments in no general order: Weight - it’s a little heavy. But I’ve always had a canister style so don’t know how it compares to other uprights. Noise - not exactly quiet but not ridiculously loud. Per hair removal - see pic #2. I live alone with 1 cat in about 650 SF (NYC) and I have a cleaning lady that comes every 2 weeks. Pic #2 is my SECOND vacuum in 2 days. Really getting that settled in cat hair! The hose - I read reviews that said the hose was kind of stiff. Well that’s not exactly the issue. When the vacuum is OFF, the hose extends quite well and long. But once it’s ON, the suction is so strong it actually pulls the hose extension back. I’ll settle for great suction. The attachments are great. Although I agree, I wish there was somewhere to store/hook the pet eraser attachment. But minor inconvenience to put it on a shelf in the closet. Long story short, looking forward to much less cat hair around the apartment!! Great vacuum for the price (next best rated model for pet hair was $500!!). ... show more
