Great shoe but I returned them. I wear size 42, and they wouldn’t stay in place on the last buckle hole. They run super big and are heavy shoes! Due to how large they are the arch was not in the right place to support my foot. I love Birkenstock shoes because they really help with my arthritis and plantar issues. If you’re like me who avoids heavy shoes that cause more pain, these are not for you. I could just order them in a smaller size but that wouldn’t change how heavy they are on my bones. Love these shoes. I received them earlier than I expected, coming from Germany. I have a black pair and now a blue pair. I am done wasting my money on other brands.

    • Give them a chance
Several customers have complained here that Birkenstocks are uncomfortable. If this is your first pair, give them a chance. They have more support yet a lower heel than most shoes, so they take a little getting used to. My tendons objected at first, but just needed to stretch out. Around the same time (2-3 weeks) the footbed molded to my feet, my tendons and muscles adapted, and I threw away my pricy orthopedic inserts and expensive shoes and have worn nothing but Birkenstocks since. I suspect that most of the complaints come from first time wearers who didn't try them long enough. Listen to the chefs, nurses, and doctors who swear by them: they know what they're talking about. ... show more

I've had the tokio super grip for about 4 months. They need to be replaced. Already. The sole is worn through in several places and coming unglued in others. The leather on the strap stretched to the point that they don't feel secure anymore. Worst shoe purchase I've ever made. Truly an embarrassing product. ... show more
