The box looked terrible. It was torn into two pieces, taped, and rubber banded together. This was a birthday gift that I’m almost too embarrassed to give. Shoes were fine, fortunately. Some small marks but that’s typical of waxed leather.

I was recently diagnosed with Achilles tendinitis and a calcaneal bone spur on the back of my right foot. To say this is a painful condition is to minimize the depth of the pain. The orthopedist suggested wearing shoes without backs and I had worn Birkenstocks many years ago. I ordered this pair of unisex Boston soft footbed Habana and they arrived today, August 18, and I just love them. It's the best my feet have felt in a very long time. This is my first pair of Birkenstocks and I absolutely love these shoes! First off, they came a day earlier than expected and when I tried them on I couldn't take them off! Second, the soft bed feels like a dream and walking around the hospital and doing bench work in the lab all day is way more comfortable than my usual Nike sneakers or my no-namebrand pair of clogs (see photo for comparison).
