I owned a pair of these back when I was in high school and I loved them so much I wore them down to the cork and then some. Recently my boyfriend mentioned that he wanted to purchase a pair because he tried on his brother's birks and found them to be really comfortable. We both ordered a pair online and we love them so much that we even where them inside the house. According to the Birkenstock website, narrow is a North American equivalent of normal so if your width is normal order the narrow. The sizes are true to size so you can't go wrong ordering online. If you're unsure of which size to order, order the smaller one. I'm usually a size 7.5-8 and I ordered the 7-7.5 size (38). The soft footbed is great for me since I have flat feet and now I wonder why it took me over 10 years to replace my first pair. If you love birkies, you love 'em. When I bought my 1st pair I was living in Germany. 1972. I only noticed them being worn by [fat] taxi drivers. Hippies were not into them yet and I'm not sure they were even sold in the USA in 72. But I've always had a pair of Arizona's since that 1st pair.

    • My Sandal of Choice!
Love, love, love these sandals. This is my fourth pair in like 12 to 15 years! I always have two pair on hand the old one I wear on the beach or in the garden, out in the rain to grab the paper and the newer pair that I pamper and wear inside or when it is dry. Yeah I like sandals, especially these. They give me great arch support and I have worn them all day! The feel is unreal for a sandal and I have bought others. No comparison. BTW, the old old pair is retired and a new pair purchased when the arch is gone, the tread on the bottom is gone and the wife says "Good grief buy some new sandals those look terrible!" ... show more

Birkenstock hasn't changed the style of this sandal in decades. That means when I order I expect to get an exact replacement for my previous sandal, just newer, and Amazon delivered exactly that. It looks the same, fits the same, and I expect in two or three years when I've worn it out, I'll be able to get another identical sandal. Or I could go crazy and order a different style... nah. Why mess with something that's working? ... show more

    • I forgot how warm the footbed is...
The shoes are fine. My only gripe is that a) the straps need another hole to tighten them up and b) they are pretty toasty. My feet aren't super thin, but I had to dial the straps in at the highest level and I may have to eventually punch a new hole to make them still fit. Also, I had a pair of these 30 years ago and I forgot their HOT compared to the flip-flops I have worn since. So yeah I will probably keep wearing flip-flops. I probably didn't need to post this, but the seller pestered me to post something about my purchase. My opinion doesn't really speak to their role selling and shipping the shoes, but if someone asks my opinion, and then pesters me, well then I will post something about the product. As for the seller, well they delivered it as promised. Yay for them! ... show more

    • the sizing chart is incorrect on the Amazon site. Women who wear a size 9 order a size 40
Birkenstocks are great sizing chart at Amazon stinks. I thought I ordered a womens size 9, what I received was a womans size 11-11.5 (size 42) which you think is a womans size 9
