  • Deer protection
38 new mature (8 foot) pine trees were planted on our property last year. The resident deers loved the new pine needles. I purchased 10 rolls of this netting and covered each tree with a 50% over lap for growth. It’s been seven days now and they haven’t touched the trees. I sleep better now.

  • Nice Light-Weight Netting, Easy to Unroll & Put Up. Feels like Only Good for One Season Though.
This is very nice light-weight bird/deer netting and looks just like the product description. Also as described it is easy to unroll and put up, unlike the netting I usually get from our local big box home center store. It's nice that it comes with zip ties, but many/most people will need more, especially since the light-weight nature of the netting will require more frequent stakes. As much as I like this netting I do admit that I am worried that it will not last more than one season. This is not a reflection on the quality of the netting, it seems well made, but rather due to the fact that the light weight may/perhaps likely mean less durability. I'll update my review after I've used this for a season, but for now the deer are being held at bay without some of the usual hassles of installing similar netting in the past. Take that you shrubbery-smitten varmints! ... show more

  • I did not use this as intended, but I am sure it works that way too.
I actually got this to tie to my existing fence, near the bottom, to keep my little dog from being able to put his head through the fence posts. I do not think he can squeeze through, but it made me nervous. The product comes folded down to around 7" high, and rolled (I believe it is, when unfolded, 7' x 100'. As I only needed a few little pieces, I cut it to size, connected it to the fence and it does exactly what I had hoped it would, and seeing it is rather lite and unobtrusive, it does not create and eyesore, so my wife still likes me. That said, I am sure when it is used as a protective barrier it would be very effective. It is lite, but strong and seems manufactured well. ... show more

  • One piece covers entire pond
I used this netting to keep the leaves out of a pond. This roll covered my entire pond in one piece. Previously, I needed to zip tie multiple nets together. So far this net is holding up to weather fine. It is also easy to see through the net to the pond. For ease of installation in my use, I completely laid out the net in a large, open area. Then I rolled it up onto a piece of pipe that was long enough to reach across the width of the pond. Then with a helper, we started at one end and unrolled the net across entire pond. ... show more

  • Strength pending tests
The roll did not appear to be very large when received, but upon unrolling, it covered more area than I expected. My main concern is that the plastic mesh is made from extremely thin strands. I used a staple gun to apply this over a pergola (to help catch leaves from tree above). The strands broke very often when the staple was driven in, but not often enough to cause any real concern. Will see how it holds up over the winter and spring. The roll has plenty left over for me to add 2-3 more layers if I want to. ... show more

  • Thinner and lighter than expected mesh
This black plastic mesh has squares of about 1 inch in size. The listing mentions that it is suitable as deer fencing, as well as for bird screening. The plastic mesh is extremely thin, which I'm not sure is substantial enough to protect against hungry deer. It is almost like a thick sewing thread in thickness. It should be fine for preventing birds from flying into vegetation. ... show more

  • Easy to unroll.
I've used this type of netting in the past, but it's always been difficult to use. This rolled netting is so much easier to use, than unfolding a square package of netting. Being able to unroll it around the perimeter of a tree, to determine where to make a cut, is much nicer than guessing the cut length, and then ending up with wasted product, or it not being long enough. This netting is pretty light duty material, but it's been enough to get the deer to move along to other food sources. ... show more

  • Well made with many uses in the garden
Actually, I have used bird netting in the house as well as the garden. My cats are determined to destroy any live plant I bring in the house for overwintering. I have used bird netting to protect my tender plants during the winter months while they rest in my basement under grow lights. When it comes to outside use, I have used bird netting to protect my fruit trees and berry bushes from birds and deer. I also have used it along with 6' stakes in my raised beds to protect the vegetables and herbs from the deer by wrapping it around the stakes planted at the inside edge of the frame of the beds. The deer have never breeched the netting in any fashion over the years that I have used it. To address this specific brand of bird netting, I'll start by saying I am thrilled the manufacturer decided to roll up the netting rather than fold it. For me, this is the easiest way to pull out the length I need then cut it. The squares of the netting are 3/4" and the edges are reinforced. The netting comes with zip ties, which are okay but I prefer using twist ties because they are repositionable rather than having to be cut off like zip ties. The netting has a width of 7 feet and the length is 100 feet. Depending on how many of my raised beds I'll have to protect from the ever hungry deer, this will protect my raised beds and some of my fruit trees. It should last 2-4 years depending on weather conditions and sun. The price is very good when compared to the big box stores. I'm happy with this purchase and can recommend this bird netting to other gardeners. ... show more
