I needed a drill press for my home craft business. The press runs smoothly, is quiet, and the first few tasks I've done seem to show it will do everything I need. There is one issue you may want to consider when purchasing. You will need a hammer and small piece of wood to install the chuck. The prepartion to mount the chuck requires some special preparation also. They suggest acetone for cleaning, a diamond coated tool or fine file to remove any burrs, and grade 000 steel wool pad to remove oxidation. The process went very smoothly. First of all, this is not a full sized drill press. It is more suited to a person that uses a drill press once a week, if at all. That said, it is not a bad drill press for the money. Some assembly is required and the instructions are rather easy to follow. Most people with even rudimentary mechanical skills will be able to assemble this unit in about 30 to 45 minutes with little or no trouble. Everything is provided except for the hardware to hold the drill press to the bench. Two 3 inch long 7/16 bolts were required for me to anchor the drill press to the work bench. I will list the pro or positive points first: 1. The machine work looks good for a low cost import. 2. The drill comes with a vice. 3. It has an aimable LED spotlight for your work 4. The motor and drill run smoothly and quietly. 5. The chuck holds bits firmly with no slipping. 6. It has a place to store the chuck key. Some of the cons: 1. The lid is a bit loose and rattles during operation. A gasket would probably cure this issue. 2. The LED spotlight is battery powered and stays on with the power switch turned off. This could possibly be cured by installing a small relay to interrupt the battery power when the drill is turned off. 3. The drill travel is rather short at only about 3 inches. Something to remember. 4. The drill press is quite short. I would probably build a box stand to mount the drill on and to get it up higher. another option would be a longer tube to support the drill. All in all, the cons are not that big of a deal and most can be dealt with. I give this drill 4 out of 5 because of the rattling belt cover, and the battery powered LED spotlight.     • Good for small projects
The bottom plate had a small warp in it, it’s just enough that makes you aware, but also not significant enough to make it not usable. Ultimately, it has been working as it should for my needs.

    • Design could be better
Battery access panel for the work light is not accessible for batteries. The motor mount blocks access to one of the screws which are required to remove in order to install the batteries for the work light.
