I bought this bike because it is versatile, convertible from a pedal-less balance bike to one with pedals that does not have a coaster brake. Coaster brakes are terrible for kids learning to pedal and should be avoided with extreme prejudice. So, this fits that bill and overall it's OK and can be switched back and forth easily. The design is not great though and the lowest seat height is not as low as my older son's 16" bike, which is the Guardian Bikes 16" wheel size. It is likely that the seat is so bulky on this bike, so swapping it out with a better designed seat would probably fix that. On the other hand the brake is weird in a couple of ways, one it's totally inadequate for actually stopping the bike, even when adjusted to maximize braking power. Oddly enough, it's also mounted on the wrong side for a rear brake in the USA, the left side. In the USA the right hand controls the rear brake, but this bike has the brake mounted on the left side. I don't think I'd recommend it, and would probably suggest finding something else. I'd probably go with what I did for my older son again, buy a better bike that's well designed for kids and leave the pedals off so he could use that as a push bike and then later on put the pedals on for him to learn pedaling. My oldest son just turned seven and the main thing he wanted for his birthday. He doesn’t know how to ride a bike yet but had a small balance bike and about two weeks ago was riding his friends bike with training wheels and really liked it. The best feature of this bike is the fact that it can be a balance bike, training wheels, or just regular petals. This allows the bike to be used through stages and also means it can be handed down to my 2 year old after he grows into a larger bike when he’s good and ready. This one also allows you to adjust the seat and the handle bars so can be used by a variety of ages. Since my boys are 4 years apart this will be ideal. Handle bars and petal have nice grip and seat is comfortable. There were I think three color combos but I chose the black and white and I think it looks really modern. A quick note about the sizing of the 16" Bike. I bought this for my son who is 41.5" tall and has a 18" inseam. With the seat all the way to the bottom, it is just barely too big. If he had a few more inches on him, it would be perfect. I think by the spring, it will be the right size for him to grow into. We went ahead and also ordered the 14" bike... He can ride that one until it gets too cold. Next spring, his younger brother will probably upgrade to the 14" one and my older son will go up to the 16". ---- Other notes: It was super easy to put together. It comes with all the tools needed, but I found it easier to use my own socket set. It comes with a basic plastic air pump -- I tried it out to see what it was like. It gets the job done, but I preferred using my own foot pump. The pedal system is pretty clever - it is very easy to switch from a kick/balance bike to a full-on pedal bike. The bike seems sturdy and well made. I was so happy with it, I bought two of them! ... show more

I’m reviewing my previous comment, since we reached out to the seller and they sent a new one after we returned the damaged one. This one works perfectly and it’s really easy to use for our 4y/o son. The only con is related to the brakes, they are too stiff and difficult to manage for small hands (we haven’t been able to fix this issue) ———————————————————- There’s a problem with the front part of the frame where the front wheel should fit: the 2 bars are too close together and there’s no way to make the wheel fit. There’s just no way to get costumer service, they don’t have a web site or anything to get the problem solved… I just don’t know what to do with it now ... show more

Relatively easy to put together. The frame is sturdy, brakes are not the highest quality and definitely will not be for high speed stopping. The bearings are not the highest quality so hopefully this won't be a deterrent once my son starts riding it more.
