Chock full of good ideas and recipes
This cookbook is full of recipes that reads like your mom's sticky, well-loved recipe box. I haven't found anything ground breaking, but that's not really why I purchased it. Although I am already an experienced cook, I've had so much success with BHG recipes in the past that when I saw this new updated edition I decided to add it to my cookbook collection. It's got lots of illustrations of both recipes and techniques. When I first received it I settled back in my favorite chair, snuggled up in an afghan, and browsed through the whole thing. So often I saw a recipe that I recalled eating at a party, picnic, shower, etc. I think BHG is very All-American and this cookbook reflects the foods we've come to know and love. That's not to say it is just a collection of old-fashioned foods. There were plenty of new recipe ideas I've come across, too, but there' nothing too exotic, too expensive, or too difficult for the typical busy but food loving American. A lot of the recipes are good for rushed week day dinners, but they're better than throwing a can of soup on chicken and instant rice and calling it dinner. I've only had it a few weeks but I have already made several recipes from it and they have all been straightforward and a hit with family and friends. This is probably the cookbook I will recommend for my sons, who are 20 and 22, when they move out on their own. FYI: I would recommend this ring bound edition. I first purchased the plastic comb edition but returned it in exchange for the ring bound edition. The paper in the plastic comb edition was very thin and the plastic comb was so tight that page turning was going to forever be a very delicate affair. The ring bound is only a few dollars more, but unless you are very careless there doesn't seem to be much chance of tearing.

GOAT Cookbook
This is one of those cookbooks that just works. It is not flashy or groundbreaking, but it has just about every basic recipe you could want in one place. It covers all the essentials with clear instructions and reliable results. The conversion and substitution reference in the front and back are especially helpful. If you want a dependable, all-in-one cookbook for everyday cooking rather than trends, this is an easy recommendation.

Giving gift like I'd received in 1969
Format: Ring-bound
Cook book shipped LOOSELY in paper envelope WITHOUT ANY PROTECTION. The spine is lightly cracked, all corners are white "fuzzy" showing wear. It's a Bridal Shower gift! Event is May 17th. Too late to try another🤷 Not a good impression, from Grandma, however contents are ok✌️

Fan freaking fabulous
I have to say I have bought other better homes and garden books that proclaimed that they were in great shape and well intact. But when they arrived, it took me considerable amount of time to put them back together as well as the pages in order or try to figure out how to put, the hardcover back on the five ring binder. So I’m never completely confident on what I will receive. This book looked like absolutely brand new. It looks like it is never been touched. I have to say Im more than thrilled, totally happy, and glad to be able to say that, if there was a six star review that I could put on here, I would do it. They deserve more than a five star plus, yep, even more. Thank you for being the company you said you were.

Shipment packaging is needed!
The Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book is great—this is our second one; we wore out the first. Five stars for the cookbook. One star for the shipping! It is a big book with 600-plus pages, held in place by a 5-ring binder. Because it is heavy and gets well used the cover’s corners come with metal protectors. Because it was loosely shipped in a cardboard with no cushioning material around it, it arrived with a partially torn cover, one corner protector missing, the five rings open, pages spilled out, a page with five torn ring holes and a torn cardboard-box container. Wrapping it with a single layer of plastic wrap—even without any cushioning—would have helped immensely.

Great Gift!

My Mom used it, Her Mom Used it (Grandma) and now I use it... and give it as a gift. For the aspiring Cook/Chef it's an priceless start on the journey to culinary masterpieces that will have friends and family begging for more or begging for the recipe. The recipes are easy and the book is packed full of tips and techniques and conversions and everything you could ever need. The layout is great and the standard 3 ring binder allows the book to lay flat while following a recipe. Although I have pretty much advanced as a cook since the first time I used the BH&G cookbook 40 years ago in my Mom's kitchen... I still find myself reaching for this cookbook when I need to just make something that is easy and tastes good and uses good ingredients. Great for young people first getting out on their own, children... and just people that want to learn how to cook... you really can't go wrong with this one. Buy it for yourself or someone you care about... you won't regret it.
