This is definitely a standard, Chinese, pressed-board piece of furniture. You are getting what you paid for. Pros: Decent weight, easy to assemble, representative of the product pictures. Cons: Several of the screws for top and bottom use the same hole so if you screw the cam bolts in too far, you’re screwed when you get to the last step. The box came almost destroyed so I was shocked the pieces weren’t damaged. The longevity of this piece is in question as some of the paint was already flecking offnduring assembly. The cushions are pretty terrible quality. All of the cams are visible, caps would’ve been nice with these. Overall, for what it cost, it wasnt a terrible buy. I doubt our son will use it for more than a year or two so I don’t regret purchasing it. ... show more

Such a shame that this product came with such poor quality control. Ours arrived missing THREE of the plastic rings that secure the bolts (pictured). These rings are glued built into the wood so even with spares it would be worthless. Dangerous and unsafe for your kids. I'm now highly suspicious of the good reviews on this page. The bench wont even sit flush. Meaning the whole thing wobbles a bit with or without the plastic screw ring. The pieces don't even fit together evenly. Some screws just wont seat. I've assembled plenty of furniture and trust me this isn't even IKEA quality. ... show more

How cute is this shelf, right? I love the look, and how it creates a reading space for my two small children. It took me several hours to put together. Pieces were broken, the hardware was cheap and would break while trying to put together, pieces didn’t even fit together. We had to get our own tools and our own hardware to try and rig the furniture together so that it was safe for our family. I contacted the company, I sent pictures, I asked for replacement pieces - not a new nook. They told me no, I’d have to disassemble the furniture that was rigged together in several places, and send it back?! I threw away all the packaging, and I’m not taking the time to disassemble the furniture. I will never buy from this company again, I had ordered a separate piece of furniture, they emailed and told me I had to cancel, I said no, I’d wait for it to come back in stock, they went ahead and cancelled my order anyway. Furniture that I need, they took it upon themselves to not consider my request. While this piece of furniture is in use, and I am happy with how it looks, I know it won’t last, I know that because the pieces aren’t put together properly that it will break, the paint will chip off even further. Not happy at all, and just because I refuse to take apart a piece of furniture, pack it back up strategically who knows how to send back in packaging I no longer have all while working around two toddlers, the company can not fix my issue. ... show more

I like the idea of the bookshelf but that’s where it ends. My husband is in the process of assembling it. Oh my. The cam locks are breaking a piece of wood broke off. Trying to get it out of the box was a nightmare. Had to go outside to do so because styrofoam was flying everywhere. I want to return it but it is so heavy. It’s been an hour now and it’s half put together now so we will keep it but I’m sorry we purchased it ... show more

I was excited to get this but pretty disappointed. Be careful opening the package! There were 100s of those tiny white foam pieces from the packaging all over the shelves and then my floor. I had to throw all the packaging away and then vacuum each piece of board and my floors before assembling. It’s a decent shelf but my daughter rarely sits on it bc the pads slide. We need to get some velcro to attach them. Also, putting it together was not a good experience. The directions were sometimes unclear and some of the parts did not fit in the holes right. I was nervous half way through wondering if it would actually all be assembled. And I’ve put together many ikea pieces!!! The few pieces that didn’t work, I was able to manage a work around. I would have returned it if had bought at a store but didn’t want to deal with shipping since I had to throw all the packaging away. ... show more

For Amazon's part it came quicker than expected which was really nice. As for assembly, one of the holes for the dowel was misaligned on board 3 and had to be fixed. On step 5 it incorrectly tells you to put the large cam bolts on the outside and the regular cam bolts on the inside when it only fits together the other way around. It doesn't help that the same image is used for both with only the letter to distinguish them even though the large cam bolts have a bend with no cross hatch for a screwdriver unlike the picture. Also one of the plastic pieces in board 3 was poking out and had to be hammered back in to get the screw down into the board. Basically don't buy this unless you have a lot of knowledge in building furniture because you might have to fix a few things. ... show more

The directions are flat-out wrong in several places. Thankfully, I figured out all but one of the issues before trying the steps. Otherwise, simple to put together in less than an hour for one person (with a bad back, even). Here’s my other assembly complaint: there are double-sided insert nuts made of PLASTIC. It’s an ingenious way to put a nut on both sides in the same location. BUT, it’s plastic. It doesn’t hold well. Also, it’s not anchored well, so one popped through and became a HUGE issue for securing that side. In the end, if not for the wood screws on the base, I don’t believe the right side of my unit would hold together at all. It was SO damaged by the plastic nuts. All that being said, it’s put together now and seems stable. And, we love it. I can’t wait for my kids to wake up from their naps and try it out! Woohoo! ... show more
