This is a nice addition to my kitchen area storage. I have several styles of tableware, besides my "everyday" dishes, and they were scattered all over the kitchen in various cabinets where I found space. Now everything is all in one easy to see location. The material seems to be a modern composite type of wood, with a walnut-colored veneer. I wish the components were packed in sheets of cardboard, instead of that disgusting, friable styrofoam, that is filled with electrostatic charge. It made unpacking a messy chore, and the stuff cannot be recycled. Assembly is not difficult, but takes a lot of time. I did it alone, and it took about 2.5 hours. It's a typical Ikea style effort. Put on some pleasant music, look at the pictorial directions carefully, and get to it. Everything is carefully labelled. Do NOT remove the little numbered stickers until AFTER each step is completed, to avoid confusion. TIPS ON ASSEMBLY: 1. Get two Phillips head screwdrivers. One for the small black screws, and a larger one for the posts, cams, and hinge adjustments. I'd avoid power tools......you'll likely strip something. 2. Cut the edge off of the strip of fasteners and accessory bag, and keep all parts in the labelled chambers, to avoid a mess, losing anything, and confusion. One chamber has spares of everything, just in case. 3. Assemble in the stepwise fashion shown. Don't skip around or get distracted. BE CAREFUL TO MATCH THE PRE-CUT SLOTS ON ALL PIECES. THIS IS WHERE YOU WILL SLIDE IN THE VENEER BACKING. Look at the diagrams carefully, for they will help you orient the panels properly. 4. I found it much easier to put the top on, by putting it in place, and then carefully turning the entire cabinet upside down, so everything was resting on the top. It makes it easier to be sure the top is fully seated. Attach the cams with the unit in this position. Once upright, there still may be slight gaps between the top and the rest of the cabinet. Use the fleshy part of the palm of your hand, and a rubber mallet, (gently) to tap the top in place, if needed. 5. The veneer patches that cover the visible cams actually have a "grain" direction, so if you're really particular, you can line up the patch grain with the grain of the wood veneer. (All you OCD types will love this.) 6. The nylon wedges that help secure the back panel that slides in, have a flat little wedge that goes between the panel and the pre-cut slot. The instructions were slightly unclear on this one step, but you'll see what I mean, in terms of positioning these pieces. There are no predrilled holes for the little black screws that affix the wedges, so simply place the wedges midway in any one section, as shown in the diagram, and screw them in. 7. After the hinges are on the doors, getting them installed on the cabinet can be tricky, especially for one person. I put the cabinet on its end on the floor, made sure the hinges were in the "open" position," then laid the door on the floor, as I positioned the hinge holes with the starter holes on the cabinet wall. I did this for each door, putting the cabinet on the appropriate side. Look at the hinge instructions carefully for proper stepwise installation and any adjustments necessary. My hinges were almost perfectly set, and only one needed a slight adjustment to fix a slight tilt. I didn't bother with the wall straps, but I suppose they were included for legal reasons, to prevent a small child from tipping the whole thing over somehow. When I was done, I had a nice sense of accomplishment, and it was kind of fun to see everything come together as I progressed. (And I only cussed once or twice. Ha.) I know this all sounds complicated, but if you have all of the parts in front of you, and follow my tips as you go, it all makes sense, and is easy. Just be methodical, sing along with the music you have playing, and know it will simply take some time. See the photos.

I am no longer capable of assembling this type of product and have to rely on others to put them together. My husband was the chosen one and let's just say he does not like to follow directions to anything and that can be a big problem at times. I left him to it and not too long after I was hearing some disgruntled words coming from him, LOL. He had some pieces put together and hardware sticking out of some of the boards I asked him if he was following the directions and I didn't get an answer. He basically abandoned the project because he said it was too hard but that was because he was trying to put it together how he wanted to and not by following the directions. I told him that I would help him by reading step by step what needed to be put together and his reply was"okay but you know what's going to happen!" Yes, that is generally where we go sideways because he likes to argue with me about the process when there's no argument to be had. Luckily we only had one blow up through the assembly process and I got him to the last two steps then I left him to it. When he told me it was finished I said thank you. I went to see the cupboard and when I opened the doors I thought it was odd that there were no handles however, that was solved when I found two metal bars laying next to the cabinet and not on the cabinet doors where they are supposed to be and that is why you will not see them in the pictures. The cabinet is larger than I had expected. Good material and hardware. Very solid after assembly. The top of the cabinet can hold 60 lb, the top shelf can hold 60 lb, and the very bottom can hold 80 lb. It is solid wood and the doors are fluted (vertical ridges that run parallel to one another) The cabinet is waterproof and can be used in many areas like the bedroom, kitchen, living room, laundry room etc. Even though there are a lot of steps to the assembly as long as you use the directions you should have no problem with putting this together.

This cabinet looks beautiful and feels alright once assembled (it slightly wobbles from side to side). The fluted doors and modern design make it look more expensive than it is, and the adjustable shelves are great for customizing storage. Assembly was straightforward, you just need a screwdriver or preferably a power drill. The only thing I wish it had were small rubber bumpers or pads on the doors so they close quietly, instead, the metal handles hit the frame directly. Other than that, it’s a stylish and practical piece that fits perfectly in my living space.
