  • BENQ EW3280U 32"4K IPS (With 1 month update)
Style: 32" 4K IPS | Remote Control | 2.1 w/ 5W ...
*1 Month Update* So after adjusting settings in windows I have to admit this monitor is absolutely beautiful! The auto dimming is "Dynamic Contrast" and I was able to turn it off in Windows Registry Editor. After that and pairing this with a 2080 TI..... WOW! The monitor has been great and given me no problems whatsoever. Beautiful picture, IPS and compatible with Nvidia GSync (Even though its not certified) I can report it DOES work and works great. Right now as of June 2020 you wo t find a better monitor than this for the price. I highly recommend this monitor. I love 4K monitors and that's all I've owned for the past few years. I actually switched from my AW3418DW (Tried 1440P ultrawide for a year) to this for the 4K and "HDR". I was super excited about getting this monitor. I set it up and was immediately super impressed with the picture quality. Set Windows 10 to HDR and set the monitor to HDR and fired up a video. Colors really POP, but I noticed the screen kept getting dimmer and brighter on its own. No settings in windows were on for adaptive lighting. So I went into the monitor settings and when HDR is on none of the settings can be adjusted, no brightness, no contrast or the adaptive lighting. Only sharpness can be adjusted. If HDR is turned off (Whats the point of getting a HDR monitor if its off) the colors are very off and looks horrible with the "Simulated HDR" that comes on. After hours of looking and reading the entire BENQ manual its doing this because of the Ambient Light Sensor built into the bottom of the monitor. There is no way to turn it off when in HDR Mode. This does this when gaming as well. So i fired up a few games (YES This monitor is GSYNC COMPATIBLE) AC Odyssey won't recognize this as a "True HDR* monitor but Forza 4 will. It looks absolutely beautiful when you 1st switch one of the 3 HDR modes on but after a few seconds that Ambient light sensor kicks in and messes with the brightness and makes the picture dark. It goes back and forth and its highly noticeable. I will call BENQ and see if there is a fix but I've spent hours messing with settings to no fix. Overall the picture is amazing, colors are bright, viewing angles are great and the build is superb. The color of the monitor is actually very pleasing too. The speakers actually sound quite nice as well. Overall its very nice, a bit expensive and I wish they made a cheaper version without speakers. I will wait to see what BENQ says but if it continues to get brighter and dimmer when watching YouTube or playing a game I will unfortunately have to return and find myself another 32" 4K IPS display. -PROS -Beautiful IPS Display. -Has FreeSync and works with Nvidia GSync. -Out of the box the colors are amazing. -Has built-in speakers that actually sound quite good. -Has support for 100x100 VESA Mount. -Framless design and monitor outer color (Reddish Copper) is very appealing. -Deep Black's -HDR 400 with 3 HDR Modes. -CONS -Only 60hz (Dont bother me) and if your not playing competitive FPS shooters its not noticeable. -Stand has no adjustments (But I have mine on a monitor arm) - BENQs HDR modes aren't that great. (Display HDR is the best) -Not curved Thats pretty much it. I looked for about a week before deciding on a monitor. Ive had ma y 32" 4K monitors and this one is by gar my favorite. If you are even thinking about this monitor I highly suggest you get it. When i had questions about the dimming, I called BENQ and a live person answered the phone and helped me fix it. When asking about the warranty I was informed I could send it in to BENQ and they would send me a new replacement. ... show more

  • Beautiful
Style: 32" 4K IPS | Remote Control | 2.1 w/ 5W ...
I haven’t seen many reviews for the IPS version of this monitor, EW3280U, so I feel I have to report it’s beautiful. Been using it a couple weeks and I’m really impressed with it overall. No dead pixels, really easy setup. I like that it uses a standard power cable, has a plethora of inputs, and the remote while not needed is actually pretty nice and convenient. The display itself is perfectly bright enough for daily use, and I have it in a room that gets a ton of sunlight all day. I only knocked one star for brightness because it’s not bright enough for real HDR, but that’s being nitpicky. I don’t use any sort of calibration but just eye balling it seems like Display HDR looks to be the most accurate, and provides the most appealing image. I do not care for the HDRi feature, colors seem weird and I don’t like the backlight changing periodically. Colors are slightly oversaturated in Display HDR, but it’s honestly not bothersome for general use and gaming. The extra pop for games is actually nice. I have a Mac Mini 2018 connected via usb-c and an Xbox One X connected right now. Both work as they should with it and they look fantastic. 32” is really the 4K sweet spot. 4K HDR and FreeSync were all enabled on One X and everything runs great. Forza, Sea of Thieves, Gears 5, etc all look awesome. The monitor does a pretty good job of emulating HDR. I do use the built in speakers for the Xbox and they do a fine job. Nothing extraordinary but I have no complaints, wouldn’t use them over my desktop speakers for music though. I was torn between this and the Razer Raptor which I did have for about a month before returning. It probably has a slightly more accurate display, and has a much higher refresh rate, but is only 1440p. For me the trade offs for 4K are more than worth it. This one is here to stay. ... show more

  • Great For 4K Console Gaming on a Budget
Style: 28" 4K TN | Tilt Screen | 2 x 2w Speakers
BenQ 28 inch 4K HDR10 Monitor (EL2870U), UHD 3840x2160, FreeSync, 1ms Response Time, Eye-Care, Brightness Intelligence Plus, HDMI, DP, Built-in Speakers -Update- Something happened to the HDR, it suddenly stopped working and it looked like an old CRT with magnet damage. Let me know if anyone else had this issue but I returned it for now and got an LG 27uk650-w and I am very happy with it. -Disclaimer- First of all, the reviews on here are confusing as they are all grouped together, this is for the el2870u (28" 4k HDR). I have only used this for my Xbox One X and not PC (my PC is old and does not even have an HDMI output). -1st Impression- I bought this monitor for my new Xbox One X as it seemed to fit all the specs. My first impression is that the picture is very clear but also very bright. So bright in fact that the colors looked a little washed out until I calibrated the brightness and contrast as well as the other settings (which are posted at the end). With the proper settings, I was impressed by the color and contrast despite being a TN panel with LED backlighting. -HDR- Yes it supports HDR10, but not it is not true HDR. It is barely a third of the required brightness to qualify for true HDR but it still made most games look better. My biggest complaint is that when an HDR source is detected, it goes into either HDR or Cinema HDR mode and you cannot adjust any of the settings. Without an HDR source, these two modes emulate HDR but I advise avoiding them and just using your own custom settings. On the Xbox One X, HDR was a hit or miss, most games looked great but some were washed out or too bright. There are some known HDR issues with certain games so I think that it is probably not the monitor's fault. Despite being not true HDR, the games with working HDR looked fantastic and noticeably better with it on. -Construction- I was a little surprised how heavy and solid it felt when I first took it out of the box. The stand is pretty sturdy and doesn't really wobble but it is not very customizable. All you can do is tilt it up and down but luckily it can be mounted to a 3rd party stand. The buttons are mounted on the bottom and also feel very sturdy. The bezels are pretty thick and not ideal for more than one monitor setups. -Verdict- Pretty good value for what you get: A very clear 4K picture, great color and pretty good contrast once the settings have been adjusted, and hit or miss HDR depending on the game. This is a solid 4 star monitor but I got it during a BenQ promotion for 15% off which put it above the other monitors at that price point so that is why I gave it 5 stars. Thanks for reading my novel, a lack of reviews prompted me to write it. -Settings- The following settings are what I was using at the time of the review that look pretty good on my One X: - Mode: User - Brightness: 20 - Contrast: 56 - Sharpness: 5 - Gamma: 5 - Color Temp: Normal - Hue: 50 - Saturation: 65 - Everything Else: Default ... show more
