  • Comprehensive and Attention Keeping
I have seen some of the nature shows about beekeeping and have always thought about what it would be like to raise bees. So, I took the plunge and purchased this book. It did not disappoint. The book is so full of information. It seems like the author thought of everything. This book will keep your attention because of the author's style of writing. You can tell that the author is into the topic. The book is written in a very enthusiastic manner. The book covers everything from what equipment to buy, where to buy it, what type of bees to purchase and where to purchase them, taking care of the bees, and keeping your bees free from disease. From an altruistic standpoint, the author makes a strong case for beekeeping just for the sake of the environment. The detail the book provides keeps your attention. The detail provided on the anatomy of the bee to the daily activities of the various bee types is very intriguing. The author holds nothing back, freely disclosing the possibility of bee stings and how to deal with them. He also addresses enemies of the hive and how to deal with them. He covers very well how to keep your hive free of disease. I do believe that this book will cover everything you need to start and maintain your hive. And the section on how to start a business with this hobby is a bonus. If this is your interest, you will love this book. ... show more

  • This book is super helpful for anyone interest in bees and honey
Beekeeping for Beginners is an invaluable resource for individuals new to beekeeping. It offers clear instructions and includes illustrative hive assembly, making it an ideal choice for beginners. What sets this book apart is its emphasis on colony management, encompassing aspects such as inspections, disease prevention, and addressing common challenges, all presented in a beginner-friendly manner. A standout feature of the book is its comprehensive section on honey harvesting, which provides guidance on the extraction, filtration, and proper storage of honey. However, the true highlight lies in the author's insights on transforming this hobby into a profitable venture. I love its practical content, as the book delves into a deeper understanding of beekeeping, exploring topics like bee anatomy, daily bee activities, handling bee stings, managing hive threats, and ensuring hive health. For those with eco-conscious sensibilities, the author effectively advocates for beekeeping's environmental benefits. The book's wealth of detail equips readers for their beekeeping journey, with supplementary guidance on launching a beekeeping business. I have been keeping chickens for close to two years now, so I will be adding beekeeping to my resume. I recommended this read as can enrich both the reader's life and the lives of the bees in their care. It promises a rewarding and informative journey into the world of beekeeping. ... show more

  • Everything you need to know and more!
Newie here! I found this book to be full of incredibly valuable information, answering all my questions and questions that I didn’t even know I should be asking. There was no subject great or small left undiscussed or uneducated from: bee equipment, picking out a hive, how to obtain bees, what kind of bees, hive inspections, harvesting honey, solving potential issues and profitable opportunities. The book put a lot of thought into the perspective of the new beginner, ensuring that information was easily understandable and no detail was missed. After reading this book, I feel fully confident I can successfully manage my own hive and possibly do more! The book is like having my own mentor right by my side, walking me through every aspect of the beekeeper process with step-by-step resources for every process. I’m so excited to find this book! Would definitely recommend to my fellow newbies! ... show more

  • This is the #1 book I have read on all things beehives!
I am so excited for early spring this year! I will be starting my own beehive thanks to this informative book! I now know everything I will need to know; which hive I’m going to start with, having a fresh water supply, and how to feed them (by the way, who knew you had to feed them!?). I have always been curious about beekeeping, I see a sneak peak of the process in movies and my mind reels! It is so cool to now know every step of the process, from putting your hive together to harvesting and selling your honey and beeswax! Truly impressed with this book! ... show more

  • THE Beekeeping Bible!
When my youngest son was in middle school he told me he wanted to keep bees so he could make colored honey like he saw on one of his field trips. I'm not sure I'm interested in creating colored honey but he did pique my interest in planning to build a hive. This is an excellent step-by-step guide that explains absolutely everything bees need to stay happy and healthy - all things you need to know all in one place - an outstanding resource. This book gives me much more confidence that we'll be able to build a thriving, successful hive. ... show more

  • Thorough guide to beekeeping
If you are looking to start beekeeping this is a good resource to turn to for information. The author covers the different types of hives structures you can try, and the author teaches you what kinds work with which climates. This sets up the reader for as much success as possible. The author also looks at what honey is and how you can harvest the best kinds. There is also discussion of some problems that can occur in your hives and how to fix them. I enjoyed reading this section very much because I think the author's experience and knowledge really come through. ... show more

  • Thorough comprehensive book!
I love this book! Not only is there a plethora of information on bees and beekeeping, it’s organized amazingly well. It’s easy to read and follow. York gives information that the beginning beekeeper will find invaluable as he/she begins the process. Clearly keeping bees takes time and some money, but I can see how it’s worth but in the end. I appreciate his chapter on making it a business and all the different kinds of products you can make and sell. The bonus material - a free gift - the hive checklist is awesome too! ... show more
