A great read. Super fast and very insightful. If you HATE soccer, this is the book for you. It is so much more than a simple rulebook. You get a touch of the culture of the game. You can see Christos' passion for the game. If you LOVE soccer this is the book you need to give your friends who are on the fence. Living in Germany while in the Army, I attended a few soccer games and had to keep bugging my friends to explain the rules. If I would have had this as a primer I would have enjoyed the games much more. Christos breaks down the intricacies of offense, defense and general rules so you can understand and even explain it back to someone else. The explanations cover not only the broad strokes, but fill in many of the finer details. Most novice or even non-fans have no idea that for the rest of the world there is so much more at stake for the players than for pro athletes here in the states. The discussion of relegation is mind boggling to most Americans. Imagine pro team like the Dallas Cowboys being demoted to play college teams next year and then if they did poorly they had to play High School teams the year after that. That happens in soccer all the time. A great read to understand the worldwide phenomenon that is soccer and to truly appreciate the artfulness that is the game. ... show more
