  • Better than more expensive models!
Style: Classic Color: Classic Grey
We had previously registered for the Baby Bjorn carrier that's suitable for newborns, and honestly this one is better at a lower price. The Baby Bjorn one didn't have a hip strap, and I found that that's actually really critical for keeping my back from hurting carrying my baby around. This one takes a moment to get put on, but they really all do. There are lots of adjustable areas to get a good fit. My husband was even able to wear our baby on a hike while wearing this! I love that we can wear her in four different positions especially as she gets older. ... show more

  • Works Great
Style: Classic Color: Organic Metro Black
Absolutely love this carrier. My baby hates the stroller and has to be carried every time we leave the house. I have a soft wrap and this “harder” wrap. This harder one is my go to for walks, going to the grocery store, and any type of shopping. It is sturdy, so easy to put on (even on my own), and she feels secure and safe in it. My husband is also able to wear it if I’m tired and it’s such an easy process adjusting the size. Baby loves it and after observing her surroundings when we are out and about she is always so comfortable that she falls asleep. There is a little pocket in the bottom that is perfect for putting car keys but won’t fit a phone. This harder wrap is my preference over the soft one and I use it a lot more often. I also love how it’s made of clean materials because my baby loves chewing on it. I’ve been able to use it since she was only a few weeks old. The only time I prefer the soft one is when we travel on an airplane because the hard one can get uncomfortable to sit in for me. This harder one is also hard to wear when doing things around the house because it is more constricting and doesn’t allow me to move around as freely. I would highly recommend to have a hard one and a soft one for different occasions, and the hard one should be this beco one! ... show more

  • Awesome baby carrier, better than MobyWrap, ErgoBaby Carrier, and Infantino Flip Carrier
I purchased this after using both the MobyWrap and the Infantino Flip Front 2 Back Carrier Black. I bought the Infantino Flip because it is similar to the Beco Baby in that it can be used for front carry (facing in and out) and back carry. I thought I was getting a good deal, but after my daughter was over 10 pounds I stopped using it entirely because it caused me such pain (the straps are not very padded). The clip near her head actually dug into her face and rubbed against her cheeks. I felt awful about her wearing it. The Moby Wrap Original 100% Cotton Baby Carrier, Chocolate is nice, but really it is just a long piece of fabric. My daughter is still comfortable in it (she's almost 6 months now), and it isn't uncomfortable for me. I just didn't like that the fabric drags on the ground and it is time consuming to put on. I've worn her in the "newborn hug hold" and "kangaroo wrap and hold". I didn't like the idea that I'd have leave space in the wrap for the baby, so I most often used the latter. I was given the MobyWrap by a friend that had 2; if I had to buy one myself, I would have bought the Sleepy Wrap Classic Wrap Baby Carrier, Brown, 0-18 Months (aka Boba Baby Wrap) because it is a stretchy fabric. This carrier is wonderful. I bought it after trying on a Ergo Baby Carrier Black with Camel Lining (the original) in a baby box store. I really liked the padding on ErgoBaby, and perhaps it is superior to the BecoBaby. However, I only wore the ErgoBaby for 10 minutes in the store. My only complaint about the BecoBaby is that the straps still seem to rub into her face, but nowhere near as bad as the Infantino Flip (I didn't notice this with the ErgoBaby). The straps on this are organic cotton though, so it is not as abrasive as the webbed straps on the Infantino Flip. I imagine the drool pads Beco Drooling Pads would relieve this problem. In the meantime, I just wrap a baby wash cloth around the strap for her to teeth & drool on; it protects her face nicely. I purchased this instead of the ErgoBaby because I wanted to be able to have her face out, occasionally. It is a lot more comfortable than the Infantino flip. I've worn her in it for an hour while nursing and around the house. Also, I wore her in it for an hour at the grocery store; she never made a sound, and she even fell asleep in it. The main improvement the ErgoBaby has over BecoBaby is the pocket. The sleepy panel mentioned in the other review, I don't really feel is a sleepy panel nor do I feel it is a product flaw. It is simply supportive padding, a headrest, probably for use when the baby doesn't have full head & neck control. I was able to nurse in the carrier without much difficulty. I wasn't wearing a nursing top (I did have a nursing cami on). I had to stand up or sit on a wooden chair, rather than the sofa. Nursing was not hands-free, but only required one hand. If I sat on furniture I sank into, my daughter was no longer aligned properly to eat. I checked in the mirror several times, there was no exposed skin showing. I don't mind the secure, two-handed, snaps because I know that means she's secure. My baby will be unable to open the buckles herself. There seems to be no chance that they'll open by accident. ... show more

  • I understand why people like this but it didn't work for me
There are a lot of carriers of this style on the market, most of them variations of the same thing. There are differences in the snaps, how the straps are arranged, etc. but none of those things are usually deal breakers. We all come in different shapes and sizes so what differentiates them is fit and this ultimately determines comfort. The most important factor is finding one that has a waist belt so that the weight of the baby doesn't rest solely on your shoulders and is also distributed to your hips. I've tired 4 carriers of this type: Beco Gemini, Baby Bjorn Original, Baby Bjorn One, Ergo. I liked Baby Bjorn One the most. I also have a Boba wrap. Beco Gemini Pros: It's one of the less expensive options. You can carry your baby facing in, out, or on the side. It also allows you to cross the straps in the back when he's forward facing. There are flaps at the bottom right above the waistband you can fold inward and snap to narrow it so that the newborn can sit in the carrier with their legs hanging down. The alternative is to have him facing in and tucked in a frog leg position. The body of the carrier is the most narrow of the ones I've tried, which worked well for me since I have a small frame. Cons: No matter what I did, I could not position the newborn comfortably in the carrier. I also found the snaps hard to buckle and unbuckle with one hand. These snaps were the most poorly designed of the lot making the carrier very clumsy to put on. Also, since this is a really narrow carrier, I don't think it will work well when they are older since the legs will be less supported. Baby Bjorn Original We got this one as a gift and it is the worst carrier. I would not recommend this even though it is the cheapest option. Pros: We were easily able to use this on our newborn facing in with his legs hanging down since the bottom (crotch) piece is narrow. It allows you to carry him facing in or out. The clasps are well designed so it's easy to buckle with one hand. Cons: The shoulder straps are not well-padded and once the baby gets heavier (>12 pounds for us), it digs in and causes the shoulders to ache. There is also no waist strap so all the weight of the baby rests on your shoulders. Also, this means there is no anchor for the carrier below. When you lean forward, the straps slide from the weight of the baby leading him to fall forward. With the narrow piece at the crotch that's not adjustable in width, this leaves his legs dangling and unsupported, not in the natural seated position, as he gets older. Baby Bjorn One We bought the cotton one and this is my favourite carrier. It is, by far, the most versatile. Pros: You can use it on a newborn without any adaptive device like an insert. There are zippers on either side at the bottom that allow you to narrow the crotch piece to adapt the sitting position. You can use it front or back facing. You can also carry your child piggyback but I have a feeling that when the time comes, a framed carrier is the way to go. The carrier also folds up neatly. The snaps are well conceived and easy to use, not as easy as the Original but much better than the Beco. Cons: The material is thick and the carrier is bulky. The mesh might be better for that reason but it's much more expensive. Ergo Original Pros: As many have mentioned, the best feature of the Ergo is having a pocket in the front where you can store some essentials that are easily accessible. None of the other carriers I tried had this feature. Also, there is a hoodie to protect the baby from the sun. This can be used facing in, on your hip, or piggy back. I found this carrier really comfortable. Cons: 1) You need an insert to use as a newborn. I tried the insert and found it difficult to position with the baby. It was just really awkward. It was also thick making the baby too warm. 2) It doesn't allow you to carry the baby front facing. Once he got to 3 months old, he really wanted to be able to see the world. Boba Pros: The best option for newborns. It allows you to position the baby in a frog leg position facing in. When they have very little head control, they can be tucked nicely against you. Cons: The fabric is really stretchy so as the baby gets heavier, the whole thing sags. It's also a ton of fabric making it really hot for both you and the baby. It's fairly simple to wrap but not really something that can be done in public as the ends drag on the ground, so I didn't find much use for it outside the house. Unlike other people, I didn't find it that easy to insert the baby as he got bigger. ... show more
