**Small (1.25oz) Dot&Dot travel bottles** We transfer from big bottles and use travel bottles daily as space savers. What this product does well: You can dispense a controlled/small amount with little effort. The opening is an inner silicone seal in what appears to be an X pattern. Because of physics, it immediately seals itself and stops dispensing when you stop applying pressure. (Of course the viscosity of product also plays into this). The silicone material is great. It’s easy to squeeze. No more hard plastic cracking as you try to get product out of the container. The mouth is wide and easy to fill, as advertised. Because it’s wide, you can also insert a smaller neck of your product (shampoo, lotion, etc) and let gravity do the work without any overflow or spills. It also makes cleaning the inside very simple, especially if you have a small bottle brush. The white sleeve, selector ring, and cap click together as a unit. This cap unit fits on ANY size bottle: 1.25, 2, or 3oz. The cons: The labeling system is nifty but not practical. The white sleeve has a series of oval labels stamped into the plastic around its circumference. You can run a sharpie over the raised letters to 'highlight' them so you can actually see them. You also have a couple of blank ovals to write in your own info. The space to write is small. When you place the ‘selector ring’ over the white sleeve (to cover all the unselected oval labels), the thickness obscures the top half of the oval so you have to pick up the bottle and look at it straight on to be able to read the label. Overall, not very useful if you like to see things at a glance. Suggestions would include a roughened square area in the silicone that can hold some kind of ink (and then preferably be able to erase) or 2 blank ovals in the plastic white sleeve that are longer, like half the circumference of the neck. Get rid of the imprinted labels since they’re small and not readable anyway. Or offer more color selections. When filling the dot bottles, you can’t set them on the counter to squeeze in your product. This can be tricky if your big product bottle is a big/unwieldy shape or it’s full (heavy). The plastic cap as well as the silicone opening where product is extruded are all translucent. Because of this, it’s sometimes hard to see how much product is coming out (since most products are whitish and blend with the cap+opening). One consideration would be to make the cap and inner silicone seal a gray/darker color to be able to see exactly how much product is being extruded. The price seems outrageous unless you're a frequent traveler/camper or transfer from big bottles and use travel bottles daily/frequently. Overall, these are a great organizing tool for travel or daily use.

When I first got this set, I filled each bottle with water, put the lids on tight, turned them up onto their lids and left them all night long to see if they leaked. They didn't, however, when I gently squeezed them, three of them remained sealed but the fourth one leaked like crazy. When I emptied the bottle out, it was obvious the blue silicone at the top of the bottle was only partially sealed because it was standing up rather than laying against the white base of the opening. I turned the bottle over on its top again without the lid in place, gently pushed down on it and left it sit that way for eight hours. When I picked it up to take a picture of the loose seal for this review, the seal was intact just as it should be (see photos)! I tested it by filling it with water and squeezing it again and it held tight. Needless to say, it was an easy fix and I am now a happy owner of this sweet set of travel bottles. Since they are much softer than typical plastic ones, it's easy to squeeze everything out of them and the openings are large enough that they're easy to fill. Most importantly, they're the perfect size for taking on an airplane. Since my husband travels a lot, they fit his needs just right and they'll take care of me too when I go visit him. I also really like the travel bag that comes with them to prevent any unlikely leaks in our luggage. Without the lid on, if you grab the white plastic base at the opening of the bottle where the lid screws on, you can easily turn the entire top of the white base to find the pre-stamped label for what's in the bottle. The stamps list shampoo, soap, lotion, conditioner and "sun," which I assume means sunscreen or suntan lotion. There is also a blank spot in case it's none of the above. This is a pretty clever design idea.
