She uses traditional neck pillow , but with difficulty keeping it around her neck . She needs it all the time due to huge neck surgery . On a trip to a medical appointment I nelothus would be well suited and stay in place supporting her neck . I was disappointed that the Velcro didn’t hold well and it probably would work well for someone who has good mobility in hands to put it back together. I decided to go out on a limb and buy this pillow for my trip to Japan hoping it would work better than my other one. I used to always wake up from a flight with a sore neck, even with my old neck pillow. With this one though, I was able to sleep for 6 hours very well and my neck didn’t hurt at all once I woke up. It did take a bit of adjusting to be able to sleep at first. I found the best way for me was to have the doubled up part to the side and to sleep on that. Now obviously everyone is different, and this probably won’t work for everyone, but for me I’ve finally found the pillow that works! This pillow was suggested in some online reviews, but I found differing opinions on this in the reviews here. I’ve flown twice with this pillow now and it works great for me. Because the pillow is adjustable and supports you under the chin, you can sleep with your head leaning forward a little so you’re not pressing as much against your headphones. Purchased this neck pillow after seeing the NYT review. To be frank, at first I was disappointed with it I do not find this pillow to be highly supportive, in the traditional sense. However, I have grown to love it because it is highly flexible. What I tend to do on planes if flip flop positions and this pillow is amazingly creative at being able to move with out, as it twists and turns. At one point, we put it around the arm rest between our seats ( in the upright position), and both rested our heads on it. Kind of cool.. So all in all, if you are an upright person, you may not like this in it's traditional format. If you are a flailing flyer, you will probably find some use in it. ... show more

The fabric has a microfiber-y feeling, it’s a soft surface with a firm interior to stay in place and support your neck/chin. It comes with a cover bag that’s convenient to clip onto your carryon bag/backpack and protects it from touching the dirty airport floor if it falls. Putting it in and taking it out is easy. I researched other pillows and ended up with this one for my 14-hr flight because of the flat neck back (other neck pillows have the back of the neck protruding and it interferes with leaning back on the seat to sleep) and the ability to stack the ends up to support my head! Bought this for an international flight that was over 14 hours long. It was so comfortable during the flight and kept my head from lowering and becoming tight with my chin against my chest. Handles washing beautifully, put on the lowest dryer setting. I used this as a neck brace for bed as well while living in a dorm and washed it every week with my bedding. Worked like a charm.
