  • Light weight and functional
Size: (Pack of 1)
I bought this cord reel last week after finding one of my extension cords in a giant knot. They never get knotted like that until you need them right away. This reel is essentially identical to another one I inherited a while back, which has been great. This reel has smooth edges, notches to hold the extention cord ends, and some tiny feet to keep it from rolling away if you stand it on end. You place one hand on the black section in the center to feed out or reel in the cord with the knob. In my second picture you can see the 50 foot, 12 guage extension cord loosely spooled on this reel. I have no doubt it could hold another 50 feet. Definitely a good value to reduce wear and tear on your cords, which will keep them safer to use. ... show more

  • Great product - but buy the next size up.
Size: (Pack of 1)
Does what it is supposed to do - except one thing. This is appropriate for 100 feet of extension cord, IMHO. My goal is to save time, quickly wrapping up extension cords, keeping them from becoming a tangled mess. I bought the "100 foot" reel for my 100 foot cords, but to get all 100 feet onto one, you need to carefully wind the cord onto the reel, like how the cord is when bought new and still in the package, all perfectly wound up with no air gaps. That takes time. If you wind them up quickly, my emphasis on "quickly," the cord crosses back and forth randomly, causing air gaps, and 100 feet of cord won't fit onto a 100 foot reel. So these reels made for "150" foot cords store the 100 foot cords QUICKLY. If you try to get 150 foot of cord onto these, well that takes time to be nice and neat about it, which kinda defeats the purpose of these, in my mind anyway. These work great for my 100 foot cords, to wind them up quickly. One other thing, if you leave these in the sun, the sun destroys the plastic in just a year or so, at least in the Southwest where I live, like most plastic. You'll get 10 years out of these if kept out of the sun when storing them. Great product, cheap, simple, does the job, I just recommend you buy oversize ones if wanting to wind up your cords QUICKLY.. ... show more

  • GREAT CORD CRANK
Size: (Pack of 1)
Although the seller is different, this reel is EXACTLY the same as the oldest one I have that finally crumbled to pieces after more than 40 years of use while building multiple houses -- so I would have to say that these things are made to last. Super easy to wind up the cord, just hook one end into the appropriate size hole and start cranking -- up to 150 feet of cord will be safely stored, without tangles, in seconds. To unwind, hold onto the center, and pull out the cord while walking. One of my employees gave me a hard time about using a reel for our cords, rather than "the professional way" of making a loop in the cord, then pulling loops of cord through, one after another, the way "real builders" do it -- we stopped that nonsensical way of storing cords years ago when we noticed how many of our cords were eventually shorting out from all of the twisting caused by that technique. Since using the reels, our cords never have a problem in many years of use, and they stay smooth and straight, never rippled. That employee continued to stupidly loop the cords thru themselves for storage, so I fired him. ... show more

  • reel the cord from both ends
Size: (Pack of 1)
Update: After 5 years, my reels were still providing good service, but unreeling was always a nuisance. To avoid dragging the plug, I'd pull the cord off the reel 4 feet at a time as I walked away. It finally occurred to me to bring the ends together before reeling. They can be secured to the reel by passing them through one or more holes and connecting them. Doubled over, the cord can be reeled in with half as many turns as before. The coil can then be secured to the reel by passing the loop through one of the holes. The biggest convenience is in unreeling. Just drop the loop over any object that will resist a light pull and walk away. When you've walked half the length of the cord, it's ready to disconnect and use. Original review...... A few days ago I bought a Bayco KW-110 for my 100' cord. I loved it because it was quick to use and didn't cause kinks. There were three problems. First, I had to cut away bumps left from molding so it would rotate smoothly all the way around. Second, it was hard to get my big, round outlet connector through the hole. Third, the cord filled it to the rim. If I wasn't carful to minimize criss-crossing, it might not fit. I decided to use the 110 for my 50' cord and order a 130 for the longer one. The one I received was branded HDX. It's identical to Amazon's photo except that the knob and support handle are gray, not black. HDX seems to be the brand name Bayco uses for distribution through Home Depot. It seemed flimsy because the sides flexed more than those of the 110. That's natural. The sides extend nearly 4" from the hub, compared to nearly 3" on the 110. Also, the sides have more holes than the 110. The plastic seems like polyethylene. Instead of being a sign of weakness, flexibility may help it absorb shock if dropped. The holes are bigger, making it easier to insert my outlet connector. They are designed so I could attach the cord to wind with either hand. The support handle was uncomfortably small. It had been okay on the 110, and the handles were identical. With the 130, I'd made the mistake of putting my thumb and fingers through the handle. It's more comfortable if I put only my fingers through, laying my thumb against the side of the handle. The 130 will wind my 100' cord with an inch to spare. The 110 will wind my 50' cord with an inch to spare. The cords should fit even if I don't bother to wind them as compactly as possible. ... show more

  • Works well.
Size: (Pack of 1)
Its a bit bigger then expected. Not complaining. Does the job. Able to add more then one cord. Sturdy. Side holes are good. Not having a base is my only compliant.
