The origional so called 50 amp plug/receptacle would get hot enough to melt wire insulation and deform plastic componets. my trolling motor is a minn kota 24 volt 80 pound thrust. it can draw as much as 55 amps. very nice connector. the shape of it makes it a pain to install. I am not impressed with it having open lugs on the boat end of the plug, I bought and installed wire boots! I never want to see the flames if something got between and shorted the lugs with 36 volts even though system has breaker at battery. should have also came with screws to mount for the premium price. overall I do think it is the best plug you can buy.....I hope it lasts because it is not a hole you can put a different plug in! ... show more

used on a 36v trolling motor great connection would have given 5 star if where you run the wires through had rubber gromets to stop water from getting to connection.other than that think its the best

Needs bigger ears. So you can use a socket you can bairley get a wrench on the nuts holding the wire. For this much money ease of install should have been more important

I was having problems with my trolling motor in high current and hard use. Turns out my previous plug was getting really warm because of ampreage draw. As well my other plug would come loose during hard jolting when on the way. Well this plug solved all of that. Love the way the wire connects and gives you plenty of room for larger gauge wires. Love the secure way it screws together and stay water tight. I have and will continue to recommend this plug. ... show more
