  • Decent Budget Trim Router
You can't beat the price given that it comes with a 15-piece router bit set. I did some test routes with it and it works fine; however, I did notice that it gets and stays hot very quickly. So, it's not something I'd attach to a router table for longer jobs. I'd only use it for quick trim route jobs. ... show more

  • Not bad.
First off, the speed controller is not smooth, at least on this one. The depth gauge does not even come close to moving smoothly. Most of the provided bits need to be debured to fit into the collet. After fighting for an accurate bit depth and doing a test cut, the router kicked back at me hard! Being dumbfounded, I realized that the "hasp" used to lock down the depth gauge had stripped. The nut on the backside of the depth adjustment knob/ locking hasp had completely fallen off. I couldn't find the nut anywhere! Thankfully I had a 10-24 nut and a die to recut the threads so I could at least test the router out. While I had the adjustment knob out I debured that as well, it had several sharp surfaces. As I said prior, the speed control is not smooth and has a "dead spot" Cycling the control many times it appears to be okay. The rubber grip on mine is loosely attached and moved around quite a bit, I removed it and reapplied adhesive spray, it not perfectly straight, but at least it doesn't move now After fixing the prior issues, I was finally able to make use of the router. The motor seems to have plenty of power, but after a bit of use the motor gets quite warm, almost too warm. I have not tested the other accessories and likely will not. They are stamped steel and don't even fit together properly, not going to trust my hands and fingers to them. I am likely going to use it in a small router table so I guess it is what it is. I thought from the pictures it would come with a table plate as well, suppose I should pay closer attention. Maybe I got a lemon, but I have many small problems with this unit. Looking at the pictures, it looks like a high quality tool, in hand a different story. I have thought about doing an exchange through Amazon, just can't trust it would be any better. Maybe I can find a replacement depth gauge for it. Update: Great customer service from Batoca! Zoey reached out to me regarding the issues with the prior router. She agreed that I had received a lemon depth adjustment adapter and offered a refund or replacement. I wanted to give this router a fair chance so I choose the replacement. She had one shipped out that day, and a free upgrade to kit 2 for my trouble! This router had none of the previous issues! Has good power and not too loud. I still stand by the accessories not being the greatest quality, but you can't expect the moon for such a good price on this. Adding a couple of stars for the excellent customer service and support. ... show more

  • Gets the job done
I am not a woodworker, and certainly didn’t want to spend big bucks on a tool that I wouldn’t use regularly. Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the router. Even better that it had everything need to use immediately. Nice balance between price and quality.

  • Good Trm Router, But?
Good Trim Router, but you have to watch the front latch. In the middle of a new project the latch loosened and the setting I had set moved and almost ruined my project. I was sending it back, but once I figured out the issue i tightened the bolt and it worked fine. I will ensure the bolt is tightened every time before use. Also make sure you get a good set of router bits, The ones with this system are cheap and don't last a hot minute. ... show more

  • Small but good for my needs.
My first router, so took some practice to control the higher than expected torque. I used the tool to rout rotted sections plywood deck on an old wooden boat, about 4 x 8 inches. I used a 45 degree bit to leave a landing for the replacement parts, which I also made with the router. Good tool, good value for that job. ... show more

  • Horrible depth adjustment
I had placed an order for this router some time back and upon arrival I noticed some issues straight out of the box. Primarily the fact that the depth adjustment was quite possibly the worst I had ever seen in a router. Keep in mind I am not a stranger to tools nor these compact routers, however it was nearly impossible to adjust the depth without leaving huge gouge marks in the base. This is typically from it being improperly aligned but upon several adjustments the problem remained. It was also not smooth or easy to adjust whatsoever, it took significant strength and “luck” to get it to land on the depth you need. Due to this I assumed I had gotten a bad router and exchanged it for a replacement. 3 days later my new one arrived and, yes you guessed it, same issue. Do yourself a favor, spend a little more and get something that’s built well. ... show more
